Is anyone here an expert at Advent Axys? I need help writing some scripts for quarterly reports (it easier if I just explain it on the phone). If you are looking for a little consulting job on the side, hit me up at xsellside at gmail dot com
I wrote 2 scripts on Advent Axys. While I consider myself far from an expert, I gained my knowledge through trial and error. However my guess is you don’t have the time to tinker with it. Anytime I called customer support to explain the type of report I needed to generate, the support team was very helpful and could walk me through it rather quickly. I would not be surprise if a quarterly report is an available script they could email to you or give to you over the phone.
Thanks for the reply, ditch. I’m starting from scratch on the program and have very little time on it thus far. Yes, I was looking to potentially hire someone just to get something done. I may just try to carve out some time to tinker. Maybe it won’t be that hard.
If you have not tried calling customer support, don’t hesitate. I called them at least once a month and anyone who answered the phone was helpful. Many times I was able to tweak an existing script with their help and twice I bounced ideas off them to build my own. My guess would be a quarterly report is something quite common for them to advise on.
I use it X. I don’t know if I would be much help though. For our quaterly reports I just package a bunch of canned reports using a macro.
That’s basically what we are trying to do. I want to be able to hit 1 button and the reports run for all clients and all reports. Let’s say there are 3 reports a client gets: holdings, performance, fees. Right now, we have to run holdings for all clients, then performance, then fees. Then, we have to collate these by hand. I want to tell Advent to run all of client John Smith’s reports, and then run all of Jane Doe’s reports, and repeat for each client automatically. In other words, I want my final output to be one giant, collated PDF of client reports so I can hit print and stuff envelopes.
I can show you how to do that. That is exactly what I do. This is actually quite easy. mwvt99 at g mail dot com
Before I was brought into my firm to help build a data warehouse that we hooked up to Axys, we used to use a product called “Packman” from a company called Lync. Here is the website: http://www.lync.net/packman.html They were pretty cheap, and it was basic, and it wasn’t easy to scale for hundreds and hundreds of books, but I’d say upwards of 100 books or so is manageable. Plus they are helpful if you are having any issues with anything. Definitely worth a look and it hooks up pretty easy to Axys. Hope this helps…
