MO34, you are not welcome to this subject unless you have something serious or meaningful to contribute. This is not a kiddy pool, it’s for grown ups only. If you feel too constipated and have to chime in, start your own post and s-h-i-t over there.
i HATE women with 5 kids or more. I bet you she is fat and ugly too.

Seriously man, what’s the difference between you and this chick ? At least she has 5 or 4 kids. She’s living off-taxpayers money, you’re a f**ing cockroach living off scamming ignorant of their hard earned money, what’s the difference ?

Kick 2 million on the streets, many of them with guns, and watch the next revolution play out. If you have nothing to lose and are going down, many will decide to go down guns blazing. So better watch out, especially the ones driving around in luxury cars.

Mo34, stick it to your A-s-s. You don’t know how I make money, so just shut the mother F$%# up. If you continue to be a nucence, I will put a curse on you when I go to church this weekend and pray that you either get neutered or be impotent for the rest of your life.
“I will put a curse on you when I go to church this weekend” is one of the most diabolical threats to ever grace AF… sounds so quietly menacing

See, I’d opt for the latter since that way we are at least supporting the medical fields, providing jobs, etc., and in theory those medical professionals will spend money causing a multiplier effect. Then there will be a demand for medical education services since there is likely to be a shortage of qualified medical staff, and earnings begin to inflate…

I know what you do for living. You’re a cockroach skimming few bucks here and there some way somehow, fill in the details, that won’t change the basic fact: you’re a fuck*ing cockroach. You’re as useless as this chick. Actually she’s way better than you, she’s got 5 kids, she’s contributing to the GDP growth her own way.

Try to use your junk on Monday and see if it still funtions as before…
I dunno. It’s inconceivable to me that someone who puts in any amount of effort can’t find a job in 99 weeks. I love when people say “I apply to 2 jobs a day” like its an achievement. When I was unemployed, I applied to roughly 30 jobs a day using the world wide internets. And people that complain they are rejected as “over qualified” need to learn how to cater their resume to the position. Just spin it down a few notches.

Ask Big Ben how effective it has been on his $2 trillion “investment.”
soilent green is people - IT’S PEOPLE!!! …and delicious

One day you will be older and realize that if the job you were trained for disappears as a category, then it’s minimum wage for you for the rest of your life. If you were fortunate enough to be well paid before that happens, and sensible enough to accumulate savings, you can attempt to be an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship can be awesome, but the image we have of how it work is tainted by enormous survivor bias.

do those kids have same father?

And that’s my point, why are these people not working minimum wage. If it’s all you can get, and you have mouths to feed, then you take it. And don’t tell me you can’t support a family on minimum wage, because I grew up in an immigrant town (primarily illegal fruit harvesters) and watched those people work to support large families while still managing to send money back home. Yes, going from well paid to minimum wage sucks, but the point is, when it’s sink or swim, you better start swimming. > If you were fortunate enough to be well paid > before that happens, and sensible enough to > accumulate savings, you can attempt to be an > entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship can be awesome, > but the image we have of how it work is tainted by > enormous survivor bias. I guess that’s what’s hard for me to grasp. My father grew up on a poor farm trapping muskrats in a river. After high school he built that into a major fur / leather wholesale business. When I was in undergrad, my roommate and I borrowed on a credit card and built up a minor landscaping operation that was on target to pull 60k a year each, although we only worked it during the summers so we made less. But the point is, you have to be reinventing yourself. Part of me wonders why people don’t pay more attention to their job environment. Like the carpenter in the article went from 80 hours a week and saw it slowly decline over a decade to eventually nothing. How is he not retraining in the evening over that period at a local tech school? It’s not that I’m wholly against extending benefits, it’s just that I’m sick of hearing how everybody’s a victim and it’s nobody’s fault and nobody can do anything about it. Meanwhile, people are applying to a measly 2 jobs a day, confirming that they are not worth hiring. Like I said, go ahead and extend benefits, I just want to hear people begin to take responsibility for their own destiny and their own situations so they can begin to dig in and move forward. This fatalism is dragging the nation down, and it’s very un-pioneer like. I graduated in the midst of the financial crisis and got canned again a year ago, so believe me, I am very familiar with the job search environment. But one thing I never did was sat around saying, “there’s nothing I can do, it’s just the way it is. Give me money.”

Those who lose their unemployment benefits should be able to get food stamps, medicaid, and whatever other welfare they qualify for. The extension of the unemployment benefits beyond 99 weeks is unfair to the non-employed poor that do not qualify for unemployment benefits. It is also unfair to the folks with minimum wage-ish jobs that pay comparable amounts to the unemployment benefits of someone who was laid off from a high paying job two years ago.
