i am hoping to one day be CFO or CEO of a major company. I feel like I just need the CMA to supplement the CFA and MBA to provide some solid accounting validation

but lets be honest here, but if you already got an MBA and a CFA and you’re still not where you want to be, another designation isn’t going to help a whole lot. Better to focus your time on meeting people and fixing other aspects of your profile.

If you can’t utilize the weapons you currently have, having more won’t make a difference.

somewhat true, but. There are ~110k CFA holders. Supposedly 60% of CFAs have an advanced degree. That’s 66k people right off the bat that are equal are better than you. No harm in going for additional qualifications IMO

In general, yes, but forget about prepping for the battle - just start fighting.

Take a real measure of what you do well and what you don’t do well, what are realistic outcomes, and how you can better get yourself out there.

It’s hard to face reality sometimes, but you have to or it will end you. Make a new plan and stay optimistic. Don’t waste your time on multi year certifications when year by year you grow stale. Even if you get CMA or CPA, you still need to earn your hours and it doesn’t sound like you’re that young. 30 something CPA MBA CFA with no real accounting experience? What does that tell the recruiter/employer? Alphabet soup. Sorry bro.

I am looking to switch the job and I think its better that I only go for another designation if the job requires (and the job is worth going for another degree). These certifications in isolation have little to no value, but I think they do attest to the abilities and willingness to learn new things of the holder. I have found the solid point in your suggestion and I will think further about it. thumbs up!!

i Have no clue about your social abilities but in terms if certficates and designations you have enough.Say you have CMA/ACCA then what ? you get the position you want but after two years you want to move up right ?

Will you go for another certificate ?If I were you I would start

1. Speed dating
2. Toast Masters
3. Negotiation/Leader Ship Courses

Remember the key is not to tell anyone in the company that you are doing this.Take Acting Classes and body language also,fix your errors ,most of the guys in finance are not as friendly/outgoing as those in marketing for example.There you have it because of this skill you will rise ,

I didnt know you are a female,the idea is that after certain qualifications,you must learn to socialize and influence people.Charisma/Social Influence would be your lever in climibing the corporate hierarchy. The idea behind speed dating is not dating itself its learning to influence others within 5 minutes of meeting them and being the best at it.

Charisma/Social Influence +MBA+CFA+understanding a good amount of office politics is a very dangerous combination in my opinion

lol. you were right about your earlier idea about me, I get the point but I think being an influencer or an effective leader is something that cannot be taught its more natural, it can only be shined and developed if spotted in a person. I am not good at office politics and more of a workaholic. I’ve seen many people excel at university and at office due to their buttering skills but I find myself unable to attach to someone without a valid reason. Definitely this skill, combined with MBA and CFA can work wonders for anybody. Even MBA would be sufficient IMO

This kind of goes out of hand with regards to the original forum but here is the idea:

Most leaders/Influencers …are exceptionally good at somethig ,they are not good at so many things.

This my own theory of leadership:Be exceptionally good at something (Finance for rexample) then learn to communicate effectively.Learning to communicate effectively is something which an be learned by practice and patience.No matter how good a financial analyst you are if you cannot communicate ,you will be stuck.Also a golden rule for an individual like you is this(in my opinion at least):

I can change myself according to circumstances so I don’t think I’ll have any serious problems. But you wrote what I truely believe, there is so much professional jealousy at work and its hard to tolerate someone pulling your leg and you doing nothing about it. Balance is a difficult thing to maintain

i’ve heard of frm caim but tbh i dont really hear people say they want to take it and that it is tough. cfa pretty much everyone in the industry knows it is or have at one point tried to take it.
