An MD of a PE shop im interviewing at asked me for my CFA L2 results. I think i did well only got under 50% In FI, PM and Ethics. My only worry is for him to think im unethical, I dont think he’ll ever understand how f*** up ethics is on the exam. Has anyone experienced this?
I’ve never heard of someone asking for actual scores. Is it a real PE shop or a fund that invests in PE shops?
I wouldn’t worry much about it. There’s a chance he just wants evidence you passed L2.
You will be in good company my friend.
Being unethical may not be such a bad thing in PE, provided you know to separate unethical from illegal, and provided they feel they can put a tough enough money leash on you.
I was asked by one MD to send him the scores as I have forgot to include them in the application.
I can actually reveal the name of the firm doing that, highly respectable institution.
I ignored the request.
Just a random thought, i could see someone asking for them to set the tone for future negotiations. It’s like when you go trade in a car, they ask and find all sorts of stuff, and then low ball you. By the time its over you, you are happy you got market value. Everything up to then, everything you have presented about yourself has been good. They’ll trying to take it down a notch. Good news is, I don’t think he’d ask unless he was really interested in hiring you.
But most likely like mentioned above, probably just wants evidence of a pass, but be prepared to answer questions if he has any.
If he asks you about your ethics breakdown tell him that you lean perhaps too close to the ethical side, sometimes so much so that you are too conservative and may get the answer wrong . That way you look good.
