Pretty sure they WERE trying to reach members of the investment communitiy, specifically FAs, brokers, and those who considered or may at one point consider going into financial advisory. Of course they would like the general HNWIs to know what a CFP is, but their primary goal is to get people to sign up for the courses, for the exams, and to pay membership dues. If you are watching it, it’s for you.
the difference between a CFP and the other guy is that the CFP is successful enough to pay his professional dues and it proves someone at a hacksaw financial firm hired him at some point in his life.
As the defender of financial advisors (at least the 10% of them that have their clients’ best interests at heart), many broker-dealers in the US require the CFP to use a Rep as PM platform. There are other ways they can qualify, but having their CFP automatically gains them access to the best platforms.
