Has anyone here ever heard of working at an asset management company doing competitor analysis? You compare the firm you’re at with other public companies based on valuation multiples, products offered, market share, etc. You would make recommendations to the president about how to better position the firm against the competitors. Is this a common job across the industry? It seems like the company is very young so they’re still finding their way and this position is going to be used to help them settle in. Is this valuable experience if it was a fund with ~45B AUM?
Sounds kinda like a Porters 5 forces kinda thing. Similar to maybe Equity Research, although in ER you look at a lot more than just a firms competitors. Sounds pretty decent
