Exactly how hard is the exam (all 3 levels)? (a.k.a the "Three Dragon" thread)

I did everything Yag did too. Except I did it in 5 days. Will write about thought process. Stay tuned.

I think one way to substantially speed up revision time is not to do any reading of the materials but to hit the questions straightaway. Had I done this at level one my three months study could easily have been achieved in 2. Using this approach for level 2 now and going well so far, touch wood.

@Yag looking forward to seeing those threads at some point.

You probably shouldn’t say “touch wood” to a person whose screen name is an anagram of “gay”. Just sayin…

Although I would never recommend it, passing L1 in 5 days is not impossible if you’re straight out of undergrad. Spend 1 day on ethics and 4 days on the material.

Although I would never recommend it, winning the lottery jackpot in 5 days is not impossible if you’re straight out of undergrad. spend 1 day catching a sacrificial lamb and 4 days in a ritual voodoo dance prayer.

Why can’t we accept the fact that perhaps “yag” is a genious???

Well maybe he is and that is all that is to it

Well obviously not reffering to it in the context you are implying

If you played the Dragon Warrior / Dragon Quest series of RPGs, analogies to the difficulty levels:

CFA Level 1 = Dragon Warrior 1

CFA Level 2 = Dragon Warrior 2 (this is arguably the HARDEST game in this series and we’re currently at Dragon Quest 10 as of 2014)

CFA Level 3 = Dragon Warrior 3 or 4 (very long and time consuming)

Dragon Warrior 2 was only hard because you could never figure out where to go or what to do next. The game really didn’t provide any “guidance”.

And DW4 was long, but at least it was interesting.

DW1 was the boringest game ever. It was 1 hour of “plot”, and 29 hours of level-building.

How about this Greenman?

CFA Level 1 = Knight of the Crown

CFA Level 2 = Knight of the Sword

CFA Level 3 = Knight of the Rose

Or

L1 - Garland

L2 - Chaos

L3 - WarMech

I’m sorry, I do not know the three above. I remember from a prior thread that you have read the DragonLance saga, which mine referenced.

^ Hacksaw.

Can any non-hacksaw BSD’s help him out?

For Quest and whoever is interested, I posted

How to prepare CFA L1 in less than 30 days

in the CFA1 forum.

CFA is not hard, it is time consuming

^ Exactly.

I’m bumping this. Mainly because the dragon illustration is so cool.

Did you do that yourself, itera?

The dragon thing is still the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen here. I did way better on L2 than I did on L1 and I’m a complete idiot.

That was a fun read. I suppose I do agree with your initial point that if you put in 100% effort and can’t clear Level 1 you’re probably better off tackling something else, but to clarify my previous post regarding the dragons, I just think there are more variables at play when progressing through this program than just the material or structure of the test. L1 for me so far has been the most difficult because I literally had no clue how to prepare for an exam of this magnitude. The material might have been easy but sitting down with a book and concentrating for more than like… 3 minutes was insanely difficult in those first two months. As you start to learn how to study more effectively, what works and what doesn’t, this process goes smoother. Someone who fails L1 might think they put in 100% when really there are more effective ways to bang this stuff out and they just don’t know it yet.

I suppose it’s possible that if I went back through L1 with the study schedule I use now I would find it cake, but it absolutely did not feel like it at the time. I was also 8 years removed from undergrad and a horrific student to begin with.
