The ER industry is swimming upstream nowadays on both the buy- and sell-sides. Simply put, more and more people are investing in index ETFs like SPY and IWM, instead of investing in actively managed funds or engaging in stock picking themselves.

Good point. As retail investors become more ‘passive’ that part of the business is definitely going to suffer. What’s your take on institutional investors and sell-side ER?
