I slept about 8 hours in the last 3 days but Berkshire was amazing. I think I would rather take a nap now than write a long debrief but I’ll give a few quick thoughts:

  • Buffett and Munger were on point – they make a hilarious duo. I recommend seeing them before they both go since that’s probably not too far down the road.

  • Berkshire is great for networking. I met Mario Gabelli, Bill Ackman, Biglari, Monish Pabrai, Whitney Tilson, Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) and his Playboy Playmate girlfriend. Also lots of other investors people on AF wouldn’t likely know. I made probably 50 new contacts.

  • If possible, go with someone who has been and has some in to the important parties.

  • If you are young, it is worth going to the Yellow BRKers event where all the young / up and coming fund managers will be.

Bromion, glad to hear you had a great time. We should meet up there next year. I’ve never been so may not know some ways around, but I was in the invite loop for a bunch of events and judging by the reaction of some of my friends there, I should probably not be a ‘no show’ for next year.

Sounds like its worth going to at least once. Bromion, of those guys, I’ve met Biglari before. Struck me as a bit of a pompous jerk, but I guess that comes with the territory. You have a different impression?

Each one was different but mainly introduced from people I already know.

Pabrai I met while standing in line because I knew someone else hew as with.

Tilson my good friend knows well.

Same with Gabelli.

Ackman I met in a bar because I heard he was there and I have no shame.

A-Rod and his HCB were at the table next to mine at a private dinner event. I was like, “Nice girl, who is that random guy she’s with? Oh yeah, that’s A-Rod, sweet.”

Biglari was standing next to me at a cocktail event and I leaned over and said, “Hey Big, what’s it like taking over a company, renaming it after yourself, paying yourself excessive compensation, and then having everyone hate you for it?” No just kidding, I didn’t say that.

I was with a really absurdly good looking woman which makes anything possible because everyone was willing to meet me :smiley:

I liked watching Buffett and Munger. Buffett seems very likable and relatable in person, and it’s easy to see why he has such a following.

Berkshire shareholders should be scandalized that Buffett agreed to play ping pong with an Asian pro half his age. The last thing they need to witness is a ping pong hitting Buffett right in the head or Warren falling and breaking his hip.
