I actually disagree. Even if you are ok to start from the bottom of your own (or a brand new) industry, you’ll be competing with fresh graduates, who won’t be as overqualified as you are.
it depends on where you’re at now, and you may not need to start from the very bottom.
and conversely, there are a lot of employers who PREFER hiring moms and more mature candidates because they seem to be mroe stable, and more efficient, and less likely to jump from job to job.
On a flip side, moms can be viewed as candidates who will be taking more sick days to stay with sick child, or who will often ask to leave early to attend PTA meeting etc. Discrimination against hiring working moms is very real in US. Don’t know about Japan. Or women mostly SAH there?
While it is true there are discrimination everywhere, i still think it’s possible to find a decent job after having kids and after taken a few years off.
Honestly with the modern day economy, there are so many part time jobs and contract jobs being offered, not to mention working from home!
Sugar consumption is also much lower in NE Asia. Some people think constantly spiking insulin your whole life makes you look old prematurely. Probably true.
