How many of you are prescribed ADD/ADHD medication such as Adderall?

Ethics and law are not the same thing. Law is supposed to mirror the ethics of good people. This isn’t always true.

Why post this if not in effort to be self righteous.

my initial post clearly stated legit prescriptions

I agree that ADHD is over prescribed and an artificial ailment. The truth is these are kids and kids have energy. Regardless of if it’s or isn’t over prescribed I don’t sit back and judge on one drug to be better than another. Cigs vs Alcohol vs Coffee vs Adderall. It’s all the same to me. If you wouldn’t give take Adderall you shouldn’t take coffee. It’s not any better for you. As a society we seem to be accepting of certain dependencies and look down on others.

While I agree with this post in general

there is a growing body of evidence suggesting coffee is actually good for you in some capacity

adderall…idk

I have always felt that I have ADD, I never got diagnosed for it. I also feel that is a personality type where your brain is geared toward a higher level of intensity to be fully engaged by an activity, and you become quickly bored by anything less than that (I am sure it works great on a 13th century battleground). The most fun thing I have ever done in life is race motocross, where each limb has plenty of work to do and small mistakes quickly end in crashes. I have gotten passed it with mental discipline, and I have a lot more of that than before I started the CFA program.

Chill, I was trolling. Had to do it, i feel most people who take it, fake it, so it was ironic when people call it legit, cuz clearly it’s not. Having said that you’re not hurting anyone so to each his own.

I agree fully.

I was diagnosed with ADD, and that’s when I got the prescription (and noticed the study effects). Later, it was determined that it’s not ADD–it’s sleep apnea. (They have similar effects.)

By that time, I was used to taking the adderall as an enhancement, and just continued to take it. Haven’t taken it since June 1, though.

am I a bad person because I faked ADHD to get adderall pills for studying in college?

also, while adderall and ritalin are solid scripts to increase studying duration, they are not wonder pills. it’s not like they make you way smarter and able to understand complexities easier. they essentially do increase your stamina so you can study 6+ hours with minimal breaks while without the drug you will definitely need a few breaks mixed in there. I have taken adderall a few times and I did notice I was able to study for long periods (8 hr + stretches) but if you go back the next day without the drug, it is not like you completely remembered everything from the day previous. Retention is still the same IMHO with or without the drug.

I don’t take any pills while studying, although I rely a lot on Red Bull since my college days.

Adderall is one of those medications used to treat adhd however the right dose of adhd medication will help boost performance, control emotions , ease hyperactivity read more at bit.ly/497P63k

Long study hours may not always lead to better retention. While some CFA candidates use stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall with prescriptions, focusing on effective study methods, such as spaced repetition and taking breaks, often yields better results. Always consult with a doctor before considering medication for studying.
