How To Use Math Formulas on AF

AnalystForum uses MathJax for making user-friendly math formulas. Here are some examples of common formulas to help you get started:

Present Value of a Future Cash Flow

$$
PV = {FV \over (1 + r)^N}
$$
PV = {FV \over (1 + r)^N}

Sharpe Ratio

$$
Sharpe = {R_p - R_f \over \sigma_p}
$$
Sharpe = {R_p - R_f \over \sigma_p}

Standard Deviation

$$
\sigma = \sqrt{ \frac{1}{N} \sum_{i=1}^N (x_i -\mu)^2}
$$
\sigma = \sqrt{ \frac{1}{N} \sum_{i=1}^N (x_i -\mu)^2}

This is great!! :grinning:

Thanks, very useful

Excellent formulas, thanks for share

Very helpful!

great information
thanks for sharing with us

Thank you very much, this was useful to me. I always hated mathematics, I was always afraid of this subject. I don’t think I’ve ever done my homework myself. I remember often looking for math help, using https://ca.edubirdie.com/math-help for this. I have never understood people who are fond of formulas and so on. They enjoy deciding something, they get a thrill from the process.

Great use of MathJax for formulas on AnalystForum! The examples for Present Value, Sharpe Ratio, and Standard Deviation are spot on. Just use the LaTeX syntax between $$ symbols to add clear, professional math formulas to your posts. It’s easy to adapt for more complex expressions too!
