I am the lowest paid CFA charterholder. Can u beat me?

I’m going to have to agree with Leverage. I don’t think you’re passing the CFA if it “doesnt help you really know anything”.

Please don’t join the military. Trust me. Talk about throwing your CFA down the gutter.

Remember, the grass is always greener on the other side. I did my military stint right out of college and I’m glad I did. I think if I hadn’t I would have been like you and said “man, that looks exciting and meaningful” and joined when I was like 27 or something, which would have been a disaster. In truth it was pretty boring and you work with some of the dumbest people you will ever meet, because they can’t fire people in the military.

Keep looking for new opportunities after you vest. Big 4 with CFA and 5 years of experience will get you somewhere.

i will lead here being a faculty in India .

Hehehe, I’ve looked at CV:s for candidates to hire with a CFA license, they have had salary requirements around 45k usd per year here in Hong Kong. You US people have it easy compared to the job market in Hong Kong.

The big Audit firms seriously employs fresh grads at 18k usd per year here in Hong Kong.

And no, HK is not cheap compared to NYC, it’s more expensive, by at least 30%.

So wait you’re telling me you have to pass all three levels before you get your charter? Your additional information section needs some serious work. You also have a wall of text for a resume for a work experience section, quantify, make more concise.

Also go get an MBA, a 3.2 from Baruch it’s gonna be tough breaking in anywhere.

Ignoring the fact it is harder to break in out of non-targets, I think the resume could use a lot of work. MissCleo gave good points. At my first glance I see the resume as being messy. Upon further inspection I think you’re approaching the subject matter too timidly. Resumes are one of your key marketing tools and this is a poorly written ad.

“Examined safety and soundness of banks and saving institutions with $100-$600million in assets” --> “Examined the results of stress tests performed on financial institutions with assets between $100 and $600 million to ensure stability.” (Needs to sound more intelligent… “safety and soundness” could be “solvency” or something more in line with the CFA curriculum)

“Clients include Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Fannie Mae, Bank of New York Mellon, Everbank, PNC, Carver Bancorp and the Department of Housing and Urban Administration” – > “Clients include Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Fannie Mae and Bank of New York Mellon” (Signaling: I work on the big clients)

Remove your GPA. Replace with Cum Laude if that earns it.

Take your information from “Member of IB Club/Finance & Economics Society” and expand on what was relevant from those clubs for the roles you want. This counts as experience if you can spin it correctly.

Overall you just need to take a fine toothed comb to your resume. You have the experience and the credentials but you’re afraid to show them off. If you make some changes and want me to look at it I can point out things that appear strange to me.

I suddenly feel richer…

I thought i wasn’t getting paid particularly well (i’m in it for the good benefits) but now i’m starting to think my salary is pretty decent.

Please go to India and China before making such statements
