^I lied. Because everywhere I turn, every ESPN show I listen to, every halftime show I watch–they’re all talking about Gronk. So I’m going to gloat in my victory over all the haters.
Bill Polian, General Manager of the Bills (who went to four straight Super Bowls) and General Manager of the 11998-2011 Colts, current NFL analyst for ESPN - He refused to draft Gronk because of his injuries. He says, “The best ability is availability.”
Is that really true though? Because that mean’s you basically have an empty jersey on the field not producing. At least someone will be filling in for Gronk.
Maybe if he’d drafted top talent he would have won one of those four straight super bowls. Keep in mind the guy that DID draft him is tied with the most super bowl appearances and wins in history… and the has most of any active coach.
I saw a story yesterday that suggested that the Pats might cut Gronk in the offseason. Can’t remember where I read it.
If they do, I will be interested to see how well he does outside of New England. It’s quite possible (as FT pointed out in another thread) that he’s good, but not great. He’s just part of the New England Machine that turns average players into good ones, and good ones into great ones.
Interesting that Martellus Bennett, who wasn’t fit to lick the illustrious Jason Witten’s shoes, is having a great year in New England.
I was in NYC at a bar watching Eagles / Giants 2010. Anytime I’m around Giants fans I can’t help but remembering that game and laughing. I remember drunk people walking down the streets screaming “KICK IT OUT OF BOUNDS!” for the next hour. LOL. The last runback was probably one of the best moments of sports history from the initial fumble to the run across the endzone.
