Interview at the Baupost Group

a girl at my firm interviewed there (i think maybe for that job) but she didnt get it.

I would also recommend checking their 13f at SEC’s edgar to get an idea of the kinds of stocks they invest in. As well as read “You can be a stock market genius” (after margin of safety) to get more info on value investing.

also definitely familiarize yourself with distressed debt investing - large multi-strategy types of funds are heavily into this right now. not 100% sure that baupost is active in that space but strongly suspect it.

CFA Frank, would you mind sending me that info? My email is n a v y o s u at gmail.com (without all the spaces… they were included to keep me from getting spammed by bots). Thanks.

yeah, Klarman’s Margin of Safety book is excellent. Everyone should read it.

In case you;re interested, here’s a link to a scanned PDF copy (I didn’t put it up there, and I would NEVER suggest that you download copyrighted material). I’m just sayin.

wheres the link?

the question remains, how did you get an interview with them without knowing who they’re to begin with??? those book recommendations are necessary . i would imagine everyone of them have read them. even ppl on here have.

Still, it’s a good read.

Thanks for all your input. To answer some of your questions, i got the interview through a headhunter who went to my school. He showed me the baupost position and it sounded great and I told him to go ahead with it…I didnt know much about the firm then and before I could get home and do my due dillegence on the firm, I got a call for the interview…so that’s the story behind it… As far as the interview goes, I talked to the HR for the first round and a few days ago got a call from them that they have put the position on hold for at least a couple of months…bad timing I guess…My group had some layoffs last week and I survived the first round…hopefully that is it for the time being.

Are you planning on following-up with Baupost? It’s almost been a couple of months now.

man, i would work for baupost for minimum wage.

I’ll one up you - free

Two up – pay them

Three up. If you pay me I’ll show you my buttocks.

Who would want to see that???!!!

me… just want to kick some a$$.
