^That’s ridiculous.

I just got around to seeing Star Wars 7 and really enjoyed it. Having said that, I think Eskimo hit the nail on the head with his entire description. The Force Awakens was laughably similar to Star Wars a New Hope. I am a casual fan so maybe that’s why I don’t see it being much different, but I thought it was nuts how similar the general plots turned out to be. Can’t wait for 8 though!

… and if 8 starts with a battle on some remote ice planet, I will be seriously pissed!

movie was a mishmash of old star wars movies and full of plot holes. They really need third parties reviewing these scripts. One squadron (12 pilots) attacking a freaking starbase that’s 10x the size of the original death star???

Republic sanctions an offshoot paramilitary ‘Resistance’ to fight a known threat in the galaxy ‘First Order’, who look exactly like their former foe… hmmm… Building a starbase on a planet with no propulsion around a depleting energy source… hmmm…

I’m not thinking too much into these movies anymore. Take them as they are, fun and somewhat entertaining. Thinking too much will ruin star wars for me. They’re batting 4/7 now. (half credits to both AotC and RotS)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released on Friday, December 16, 2016.

Star Wars, Episode 8 will hit the theaters on Friday, December 15, 2017.

That’s great news. yes

Game of Thrones meets Star Wars?

It appears this thread has come full circle. And, what’s more, D&D left GoT to write and direct three new Star Wars movies. Too bad both Star Wars and GoT went way downhill since you created this thread.

I thought Force Awakens was not bad, although no, it would not have been an all time classic film like the original Star Wars is not for the series association. Actually, those old Star Wars movies are still good, and are amazing considering what other crap was coming out in the 1970s (sorry s2000). Not sure what happened with Last Jedi. It’s like they purposely went out of their way to outrage fans. Doesn’t Disney know how much money these nerds pay for Star Wars merchandise?

I did not like Rogue One at all. Nothing in the movie made sense to me. Main character was a little bitch. Also, they cast Donnie Yen, but have him just be a token kung fu monk. I’m not sure if that was racist. He plays a martial arts character even in Chinese movies. Maybe papa Joe is affecting me. The only good character was the Crimson Viper guy, and maybe those squid people in the capital ship. Would watch a whole movie about Admiral Akhbar, just saying.

^I’m of the opposite opinion. I’ve preferred the one-offs like Rogue One (best so far, imo) and even Solo (got a bad rap, imo) much more than Ep. 7-8.

according to box office numbers adjusted for inflation. tthe original star wars is the best followed by the force awakens! the Phantom menace is number 3!

?

I think Episode 3 was one of the best movies in the series, because it was just really interesting in terms of plot. I mean, the whole thing was over dramatic as F, but I think if you watch a space opera and expect all the characters to act like normal, reasonable people, then your expectations are not reasonable. Certainly full of stupid sht, but easily top 2 or 3 in terms of entertainment value. I don’t know about you, but to me, that means it’s also one of the best in terms of being a movie.

nah i like episode 1 the most. that darth maul fight was the most epic thing ive seen. i dont get why people like the original star wars. fights were weak

Darth Maul, the character, was a good addition to the movie, as he was the only one who was sort of badass, did his job effectively, and was not a whiny b*tch about everything. I think his only line in the movie was “yes, my master”, which shows his team-oriented attitude, and then he spends the rest of the time doing genuinely productive activities.

However, the fight scenes did not have much substance. It was just people doing unpractical flips and there wasn’t any emotional weight, since the outcome didn’t really have much effect on the movie’s plot.

Actually, in general, the whole idea of killing CGI robots to resolve a trade dispute did not make for a compelling overarching narrative.

Lol there was a scene where earth Vader was killing a lot of rebel humans. Filithy little mud bloods. I’m glad they showed him butchering them, not like in episode 2 when they just showed some of the sand people dying!
