Least Douchey Luxury Sedan

I’ve seen them with the Bentley “B” emblem.

B for “Bro” laugh

The interior on the A6/7 blows the A4 out of the water IMO. I’d take an A6 over S4, also size is a factor for me because Im tall.

Check out a 2014 Infiniti Q50 for me and report back. I think they S type is $43k and the well equip one is $39. Also, the M is way more luxurious. I think they’re just under 50k. I had a friend that parked valet, he told me Infinti’s always impressed him more than the comperable German cars.

I had an infinity before my audi and i can say they are well built, luxury cars. A friend of mine just leased the q50 and it is an amazing car with power and appeal. The one thing i like with german cars over japanese is the tightness of the ride.

Cousin bought an S6.

He scheduled 3 test drives, first Audi (A6), followed by BMW (5 series) and then E class

Walks into Audi dealer. The sales guy asks him to test drive an S6 for shits and giggles. Half an hour later cousin drives out with a new S6.

@OP - One thing you might want to consider–what dealership you buy your car at.

My wife used to be a nanny for a hedge fund manager in Dallas. She was privy to a lot of private conversations, and she vividly recalls them gossiping about other people because even though they drove a Mercedes, they didn’t buy their Mercedes from Park Place Mercedes. For whatever reason, Mercedes’s that come from Park Place Mercedes is better than one that comes from Baltic Avenue Mercedes.

You might say that this is super-duper douchey. But remember–you’re talking about paying an extra $20-30k just for a hood ornament, because last time I checked, Consumer Reports said that the best car in the US is made by Kia.

How about a Tesla?

Problem with Tesla is that you know there will be a better one soon, and it will make your current car look like crap. So, it’s ok if you want to lease for a while, but it’s not a car you will want to keep for 10 years.

Hmm, I wonder if there is a similar phenomenon in my neck of the woods. I’m constantly seeing MB’s from a dealership 40 miles away, but rarely see them from the local dealer. Of course, the dealer from 40 miles away might just be offering much better deals.

It’s not too surprising that people would drive 40 miles to buy a car. Other than having a good reputation and deals, a slightly farther dealership might simply have more inventory that is not available nearby. This would be especially true for higher end, lower volume cars.

I really like the IS350 but its not the same feel of car as the Audis. I test drove the S5 a couple years ago and either that or an S4 will likely be my next car. I don’t have much interest in an A4…

Do you mean the IS is different in terms of driving feeling or general build quality, design, etc.? Or both?

^ Mainly driving feeling… The IS is very smooth but a bit more detatched feeling. Also the interior (mainly leather) is probably higher quality compared with the Audi (lower priced ones like the A4). Plus the interior design is quite different from german cars in general.

yea, i test drove the a4 (before the s4) and found it bland. s4 was a whole new level of driving experience. also the a4 i drove didn’t have the ‘prestige’ package, which made a significant difference. pretty sure i will pull the trigger on the s4 soon.

I’ve owned my share of expensive cars, and I got to say with hindsight… they are freaking costly to maintain. Imagine a pit you have to keep throwing money into. the only happiness is looking cool in it.

Now I like to live closer to the subway, use that to travel / commute, and keep a zipcar membership on hand for occasional trips for car needs. Save tons of money.

^ I couldn’t agree more.

Top three money pits: 1. Car 2. Cable/satelite tv 3.trophy wife

i only have one of those three.

Turd, you have to go check out a Q50 for me and report back bro.

Also, what color? We all know the only real options are silver, gray/charcoal, black and white…

I actually went out today to drive the q50. I got into the showroom, stood around for 15 minutes while three salesmen pretended to be busy. I turned to leave and one jumped up asking if anyone was helping me. I told him since I had to wait 15 minutes to be acknowledged I’d be going across the street to by an Audi.

i won’t be buying an Infiniti.

You might need the first 2 to get the 3rd.

Be smart. Have fun with the trophy wife without committing. When she threatens you that she’s leaving, find another one.

I paid my new Acura TL cash back in 2005. Although I can’t complain about the reliability so far, I would never buy an expensive car again. Just not worth it. When you’re 23 you don’t always know that. Every piece is more expensive and the cost accumulates.
