Let’s not make it look like the profit was amazing. I felt like their annualized return was like 3 percent. Sure they made a profit, but this is compared to the same time period where the market with an annualized cagr of 20 percent.
with that said, I think debt should not be forgiven. I mean this is a way to keep these idiots working for the rest of their lives. Saddle them up and call them indentured servants!

Neither is the ROIC on student loans, which are actually closer to what TARP was than a bailout would be.
Not arguing that the ROIC was not great, but it was still a profit, not an expense. Even if it was breakeven, but results in a benefit to society, that is good policy. But equating budget neutral or in this case budget positive policies in which the beneficiary still had to pay the assistance back (a loan) to a loan forgiveness bailout is obviously a joke.
The government caused the student loan debt crisis by underwriting these dumb poors and sending tuition costs sky high (thanks Obama?).
liberals are 100% to blame, they knew that allowing dumb people to get loans to study useless subjects would put them in a situation that they wouldn’t be able to get out of on their own and now, Warren and Sanders and more are promising to bail them out if they vote for them. Very sad, all for politics.

It’s not rocket surgery that government subsidies inflate prices, but of course the people supporting loan forgiveness and free education obviously couldn’t be bothered to grasp basic economics or think more than 12 months into the future.
These folks bid themselves to be smarter, more cultured, etc… but are really just on the opposite side of the coin as climate denier / MAGA crowd. Can’t be bothered to think much for themselves and do what “feels” right. AI can’t come soon enough.
