I’d say that I’m a fiscal and ideoligical Republican, but with some social Democratic leanings.
I’d also say that Trump does not remotely represent the Republican party.
My wife of 40 years, who is listed as an independent, is a Democrat at heart. We learned long ago that we don’t discuss economics; it leads to arguments and tears.

I’m seeing Governor Cuomo today at The White House. He must understand that National Security far exceeds politics. New York must stop all of its unnecessary lawsuits & harrassment, start cleaning itself up, and lowering taxes. Build relationships, but don’t bring Fredo!
Deficit spending is a result of other policies, both parties are OK with them doing it, but only a result of other policies. Trump is pro deficit, which isn’t an R or a D. Most Dems also are pro trade deal (USMCA was voted 89-10).
Trump is the modern republican, and isn’t remotely centrist when adjusting for his personality.
There are cases disproving both of those there are a ton of deficit hawks in the R. I said globalization and trade was split with conflicting examples, you just corrected me by basically pointing out that there are conflicting examples? You’re agreeing with me on that one. Anyhow, I said removing personality he’s clearly very centrist (taking broad party stances not socialist fringe positions into account).
What this argument is about. If Bernie becomes President, Democratic party will shape in his image. Same with Bloomberg, who is the opposite of Bernie Sanders in a lot of ways. All those categories mean little as they evolve over time.
no democrat will condemn this behavior (neither will any left wing radicals here). The left is full of hate and violence and intolerance. It’s sad what they did to your party. It’s sad that you are not strong enough to think for yourself and stand up for what’s right.
Former Justice Dept. Lawyers Press for Barr to Step Down
More than 1,100 former prosecutors and officials who served in Republican and Democratic administrations signed an open letter condemning the president and the attorney general over the Stone case.
