They buy VIX futures in a fashion that should return 1.5x the return of a short term vix futures benchmark.
Or in my own words it’s my favorite “this time markets are really falling” play, because it will deliver on that. But if you look at the one month away option expirations on it, even out of the money calls are demanding absurd sums, and since the option market doesn’t miss-price ■■■■ it really makes obvious the fact that someone’s going to get fisted.
Just pointing out a big tug of war between market history that the sky isn’t falling 99% of the time, and the absurd price of insurance right now.
