Meet the Bulgarian analyst arguing that the CFA marking scheme isn’t fair

Regarding all disputes about MPS-Two things need to be considered:

1.Noboday stops a candidate from giving his/her best(who stops you from trying to score 100%?)

2.MPS is not biased aginst any candidate-or in favour of another candidate.

Thanks for the (I guess rhetorically intended) questions and the interest to my comments but I’ll refrain from discussing any further. Firstly, I have unintentionally flooded this thread and led it to another direction. Secondly, I can use my time better instead of putting it into discussions that won’t help me to pass the exam.

Lesson learnt: I’ll try to select my wording and chose the topics I comment in the future more carefully.

Finally, to make it clear: I am not afraid to ask dumb questions and make a fool of myself. I realize it is entertaining for some, if not many, smart guys. I don’t claim I am ultimately right or throwing accusations. I may well be wrong but I don’t need to prove others or myself that I am right. I participate in this forum because I want to help myself and also be of help for others to get through this certification.

I am done here. See you in the CFA curriculum-related threads under the L3 section.

Hi S2000magician,

Please advise me on which additional service providers I should use, if any, providing that your opinion is that I should stop claiming that the CFAI has not been right in valuation my exam papers and I should study more.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Hey, IcebreakerH!

I cannot say for certain which prep providers offer the best practice questions for Level III.

I would strongly encourage you to go through the historical morning exams that CFA Institute has on its website. And when I say “go through them”, I mean sit for three hours writing the answers to the questions, then compare your written answers to the guideline answers provided. Grade yourself harshly, but bear in mind that the guideline answers are usually much longer than necessary; bullet points are OK.

Having tutored a number of Level III candidates who failed the exam at least once (before coming to me), I can tell you that very often the answers of those who fail will fall just short of what is necessary for full credit. Candidates often leave the last step or two to the imagination of the grader, rather than writing it out explicitly. The problem is that graders have no imagination (they’re instructed not to): if it isn’t written explicitly, they cannot (and don’t) assume it.

Best of luck! I hope that you decide to retake the Level III exam, and that you pass it in spades.

The truth has been spoken. A college professor of mine who grades level 3 exams pretty much said the exact same thing. There are very strict guidelines they have to follow, and it’s very fair.

Thanks S2000Magician for your guidance!

Yes, I am definitelly going to re-take Level 3 exam this June and your comments are very helpful to me.

You’re welcome.
