Go East young man, go east.

There’s a pull out section in today’s Financial Times about MS in Finance… anybody interested should check it out.

I always thougth of the CFA as the practical “How to” and the MS Finance as the history and the theory behind the “Why to” The CFA is a is a huge package of things/tools you could actually use. You probably never will use all of them but you might use some. The MS Finance is an in depth academic study about some of those things/tools. Not as concerned with what those things are but more concerned with why they exist, how they came to exist and you being able to critically evaluated their existance relative to other tools.

i got into a masters of finance program and i am hopefully a lvl 2 candidate.

The tone on this forum is excessively negative. You make best of the situation you’re in, so can’t worry about top 10 school, and internship experience if you don’t have those things. To the OP, CFA and Master Finance (from a top program) is fine way to break into finance for your current situation. MBA, if you can manage to get into top 10 would be a better option if you have 3+ years of work experience. Having done CFA 1&II is good thing to have on your CV. But no doubt that good experience trumps all.

^^No, not as meaningless. The OP asked about something I don’t think I can truly advise on. Yet, I believe it is better to keep quite than to ridicule someone via an online forum who is in actual need of advice. And how bold of you to go on assuming about what I do for a living jackass. Ur words mean absolutely nothing to me so call me whatever strikes ur neanderthal brain

so what do you do?

I’m rubber, you’re glue!

Aaarrghhh…its “keep quiet” not “keep quite”.

I’m still new on this forum, so I don’t know, but I hope not all topics on this forum consists of negative, unhelpful douche bags. Maybe lot of people on this forum are frustrated with the difficulty or their inability to perform on CFA exams, so they vent their negativity on others. To the OP, got to wallstreetoasis and/or studentroomuk to get some real advice.

Lol dude, first of all, this is an Internet forum. Relax. Second, negative is not the same as unhelpful. Thick skin is an important part of playing nice in the corporate environment. Front-office finance is not a land of cherry blossoms and unicorns. Passing the CFA and also getting a less-than-top-tier MS in Finance are redundant both in content and pedigree. If I saw a resume with both, I’d mutter “clueless” and instantly pass it over. A more complementary alternative is an MBA if he wants to go back to school.

Hows the view from high school?
