Jeffery will be fine. You can only favor a WR for so long until the situation fixes itself because Ds start to do everything in their power to shut said player down.
It was just changed last year lol. I like the rule. If your defense can’t stop a TD then you don’t deserve to win because we’d be left with a never ending OT when two good offenses face each other.
^ The rule change was an improvement, but I still don’t like the fact that the team who loses the toss isn’t guaranteed a possession. Seattle failed to stop Denver in regulation just as many times and Denver failed to stop them, so why should a coin toss decide who wins the game? At the very least, make the team who receives the kick score a TD plus a 2 pt. conversion to end the game.
I like the rule. Stopping a TD drive isn’t exactly supposed to be a gargantuan feat. If your D can’t do it- game over. Makes sense. But letting it end on a FG? That’s a bit much. That can be like a 30 yd drive from a half decent return. Besides, it’s just OT. Any teams that don’t like it should try to win in regulation.
I’m more fired up about the proposed changes to the extra point. They should have to make a 42 yard field goal or go for two. Screw these gimmie extra points. Boring.
I"d like to see teams going for 2 regularly in a wildcat, which due to the numerical advantage of having an extra blocker should give you more points over the course of a season than 1PC.
Disagree. It penalizes good offensive teams. Also, the defense is dead by the time overtime comes around. A 60 minute game is challenging enough, playing more is beyond exhausting for a D.
^ How about just removing the antiquated coin toss. Home teams decides before the game whether they want the football or field. In OT, home team decides if they want the football first and both teams get a crack at the ball.
The OT should be played like Rugby 7’s. 7 players per side. 3 blockers, RB, WR, WR, QB. Go. No field goals (but perhaps allow a drop kick beyond the line of scrimmage). But keep the regular down rules otherwise…
It’s very simple, just give each team the ball once and then it’s sudden death after that. If Team A wins the toss and scores a TD, Team B gets the ball and has their chance. If they want to end the game they go for 2, otherwise they take their chances trying to stop Team A on the next drive.
