I will let everyone know my thoughts after I take it on Monday. I THINK I am prepared. I will give everything a read through again this weekend…I don’t work in the industry currently so managed futures, credit derivatives and memorizing the formulas have given me some trouble but I passed one of the practice exams with an 84 and the second one with a 78. Enjoy your weekend and wish me the best!
damn i’m doing the exam friday and you guys are killing my confidence. I didn’t study excessively and I used Schweser.
I’m actually doing the CAIA practice exam now. I don’t find it excessively difficult. My biggest drawback is I only had the 24th 8am available. I will have to wake up 2 hours earlier than usual and it’s a short drive if there is no rush hour
Well I didn’t think it was that bad but there were a few items that I just had shrug my shoulders and hope I picked the right answer. Above an 80 I seriously doubt it but I think I did enough to get a 70.
How were you doing on the schweser’s??
I got an 84 on the first one and a 78 on the other, then I made up about 10 different 50 to 100 question exams from the schweser q-bank which I got between 70 and 88 depending on the material. I still think I could have failed…tricky.
Nigel…so how would you characterize tricky - from the math, the wording of questions, or testing material from the periphery of the text? maybe all three?
Math is either you know it or you don’t…wording…eh! Could be Subjective…definitely a few that If I got wrong I could argue a case that they could be correct and why. I have them in my head. Hopefully the results will come a lot sooner then the three week waiting period. I am anxious!
3 weeks seems like nothing compared to the 2 month Hell CFAI put me through this summer.
“Beginning October 6, candidates who completed the Level I examination can log in to the website and receive notification of their general exam results.” http://caia.org/caia-program/program-process/exam-results
I’d say there was a lot of the material that I never saw in Schweser. I really learned my lesson this time. Kaplan you lost me as a customer for CFA and CAIA.
I think Schweser was less useful for CAIA than for the CFA but still it is the most reasonable option to possibly pass this exam without reading the whole curriculum. I did ok doing practice exams scoring in the mid eighties on both and I thought the exam was pretty much like the practice exams except for maybe a couple of questions. We should think positive we don’t need perfect score or something like that 70% or maybe even less will do! All I want is a pass that’s it
wow - quick I thought it was 30 days, very efficient!
