Yes on RCL N it shows 15 RCL I shows 8…but still issue persists…

OK, I’m gonna whip up a random TVM question for you to work through:

P/Y=12 C/Y=2
2nd CLR TVM
N = 180, 8=I, PV =100000 CPT PMT -948.1529

Please let me know if you get the same value of PMT.

Yes got exactly same -948.15 , but with asterisk mark above answer

The asterisk means that the value was calculated by the worksheet; it is not an error indicator.

So what is wrong with calculator that reflects same value for N and I/Y when I check by pressing N and I/Y . When I do RCL it shows correct values for both

There is nothing wrong with your calculator. RCL lets you display what is currently in the worksheet variable; when you press the variable key, what you are doing is registering whatever is in the display as the variable. :nerd_face:

I m solving for forward price using TVM with 1750 as PV, 8 as I/Y, N as 0.25(3/12)months…when solved without TVM I got it correct (1784) but with TVM it shows 1752.86

I think you have P/Y=C/Y=12; try P/Y=C/Y=1.

I m getting wrong answer for tvm problem N 3 I/Y 10 PMT -200 CPT -> FV= 662 but m getting as 3932.27 with asterisk mark…plz help

Perform 2 tasks before you start a TVM calculation:

  1. Press [2ND] [FV] to clear the TVM inputs.

  2. Press [2ND] [I/Y] and make sure P/Y and C/Y are set to 1.

Hi I’m having problems with getting the right answer and I did everything from above.
N =300 I/Y = 7/12 PMT =-1633.26 FV=0
PV is supoose to be 235,329.51 but I keep getting 231,084.899. Please help. Thank you

Check your setting for C/Y. For C/Y=12 (monthly compounding), the answer is 231,084.899; for C/Y = 1 (annual compounding), the answer is 235,638.2967. I also left I/Y as 7, not 7/12.

FV is supoose to be 5801 but I keep getting 5525.6313. Please help.
