Pre-MBA Associate interview at Partners Capital

As I mentioned in another thread, it’s their way of putting other candidates on deck in case their candidates who got an offer either turn it down or put up too much of a resistance to the comp package. They really don’t care who gets the job as long as they get paid. Churn 'em and burn 'em.

I had a good experience with a couple of headhunters at Glocap, but otherwise I would agree with farley013 – it’s more of a churn em and burn em type of thing. I think that once you start getting other interviews from other recruiters, you can start leveraging them and really get the ball rolling – you know, it’s one of those things where everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon and get in on the action. That’s why it makes sense to work with multiple headhunters. Word!!!

isn’t it like that at every firm? all they care about is their own money.

I thought the response rate at other headhunters was much faster – if they identified me as a good candidate, they’d let me know right away and the process would get started. There wasn’t this whole “under active consideration” thing.

I feel like once you pass that “under active consideration” step, it goes pretty fast from there but yea it could take a while. I’ve had a pretty good exp. with glocap as well. I got my current job through them 2 years ago and the same recruiter from 2 years ago is helping me with this one.

The only headhunters I will accept interviews with are ones who actually get to know you and will only send one candidate per job until that candidate either gets an offer or is rejected. There are a few good ones in the hedge fund industry that are like that and I don’t hesitate to send friends to them.
