Hi, I’m new to AF and have to say this thread is excellent advice for newcomers. @Joan & tfyim, I did not use flash cards for Level I, but added it on for Level II. I will definitely try to memorize if as a foundation for essay portion. Thanks!
As I said in one of my previous message, I have to work more than 5-10 hours the essay question (weak twice).
Just my two cents here: the q bank was useless in level II. I would focus on the the LOs, and the handbooks.
Just get the concepts right. Read closely what the learning objective says and find the materials in the book that directly addresses them and you’ll pass. Schweser should do the job. No need for anything else. Block everything that is noise. CAIA is an easy subject.
ok, thanks. time is running out and i just started a job that has been taking all my free time. let’s try this approach for the next 2 months!
Here’s how I did without studying fresh after failing the CFA Level 3 exam. Examination Topic (Weights) Relative Performance Level (bottom quartile of passers) Commodities and Managed Futures (15% - 20%) - Comparable Current and Integraded Topics (20% - 30%) - Lower Hedge Funds (15% - 25%) - Weak Other Constructed-Response Questions (20%) - Weak Private Equity (10% - 15%) - Comparable Professional Standards and Ethics Constructed-Response Question (10%) Outstanding Real Assets (10% - 15%) - Higher Pretty clear to me that the Essays got me. I can’t even really remember what they were but I had literally no clue on one or two of them. The Ethics essays were straightforward. I don’t think this will be a huge sweat this time around. I’m not gonna put an enormous effort in into it so I could still fail if things go wrong (i.e. shitty essay questions). But I’m fairly confident they will pass me
