first off, you don’t HAVE to pass ethics…CFAI mentions it does take the grade into account when borderline pass/fail though overall score obviously matters…
50/50 on the 5050/5151. AM straightforward, last year seemed more like the mocks, but maybe I missed the tricky details. Found the PM harder to follow and tripped up over the semantics of some of the questions. Didn’t feel good when it ended. Feel sick thinking about it now.
congrats, chuckrox. i really don’t know ANYONE who walked out with THAT MUCH confidence. it’s impressive to know that you have crushed the exam. well done to you, you well deserved it! i feel exactly like how tcb feels, cuz i have no idea how i did. i pray to god that i have passed… but it might just turn out like last year (band 8 fail). so i dunno, i have mixed feelings… god have mercy on my soul…
What study material did you refer to? And did you exclusively use that? Please share your technique. I’d say i’m 25/75 to pass. felt the exam was more than fair and that generally I felt fairly confident but this is my second attempt at it and I know that there may be many errors i made that i’m unaware of. No choice but to wait and see i suppose.
hey guys my 3rd time taking the exam… got there pretty confident, was killing all of the the practice exams… had studied a lot last year, and this year not much but pretty much focusing on what wasnt good last year and doing more exercices... however the exam turned out to be more challenging... some "strange stuff" (like the AI vignette), some questions that I judged to be badly formulated (such as one small sentence which you had to point out if it was classical, neoclassical or new growth), and this time very tight on the time available for the exam however, I believe I really rocked on Equity and FRA, which is the heaviest part of the exam... and did about fine on the other subjects... except for AI and QM, which I believe I did poorer than or at most 50% also, ethics was kind of tricky too... some "strange stuff" out there I am confident though, got a band 4 in 2009 and band 9 in 2010... hopefully will pass this year, perhaps 80/20 still, the CFA exams are quite something... I always did very well in school, university, etc and have some good finance experience... and even so I
m taking this one for the 3rd time… but, working in Investment Banking doesn`t leave you many hours to study or do whatever you want to do… cheers
@ice - Thanks man. Other than a few equity questions and few corporate finance questions I definitely got lucky with the topic selection. I was definitely shocked by the Ethics, FRA, and AI selections. Fortunately, I have done a lot of ai investment analysis in my current role that matched up perfectly with the exam questions. @riyaz - I haven’t passed, hopefully knock on wood I will, but I used the CFA books exclusively. I failed last year, band 8, using schweser. I blame my lack of studying for my poor performance last year. Schweser is totally fine if you put forth the same amount of effort that you would using the CFAI books. There are no shortcuts to passing L2. You have to bite the bullet and put in the time. I studied a little over 300 hours. Failing L2 sucks, but it definitely teaches you how to prepare for the next time around.
Felt moderately crappy walking out of the exam last year and scored in band 10. Felt moderately crappy walking out of the exam this year, so I’ll put my odds at 50/50?
i did really silly mistakes in the exam … about 5 that i knew how to answer them right but dnt know what happened, like forgetting to discount or a stupid mistake in fixed rate swap formula … another thing that i couldn’t complete filling one oval because the time was finished … im not sure if its gonna be scanned but anyway … if i passed that means i have deserved it … and if not i will work harder next time … i did really well in FRA and Equity but really bad in Alternative which was unexpected , unsure about economic and PM and average on Corporate Finance but its nice to hope that im going to pass
1/99 I know im failed.
I was band 8 last year and still not confidence of passing this yr. I am very scared of doing it once more. Fingers crossed.
I probably got a 40% chance of passing, maybe higher if my guesses are right. I might just get lucky, I know ethics was my best section.
I am extremely confident in my FRA and Equity sections. I am working at a big four auditor and doing my accountancy qualifications as well so it doesn’t hurt. I loved the quants and the economics, apart from the growth theory question. The ethics were tricky. Just slightly weird and enough of an unusual approach to make me second guess myself. I can honestly say that during each section there were no more than 10 questions that I was stumped by and had to spend extra time and of those, I would say I worked out the response for half and guessed the other half. I never seem to find the exam time pressured. I finished both sections in two hours, took a bathroom break and then came back and went to work again. At this point, I am only hoping for good news and hoping that my equity FRA carry my score.
50-50

When I took practice exams for L1 I could tell how I did before marking them. L2 is different took a practice exam a couple days before the actual exam I thought I nailed the morning session and failed the afternoon session of the practice turns out I got 68% on the morning and 88% on the afternoon. Basically I have no idea what to expect
This was my first attempt at level 2 and I’m really confident of passing…credit goes to both stalla and schweser as nothing on the exam seemed new to me.
first time taker. 85-90% probability of passing
Meh, I felt better walking out, but now after realizing how many tricks I fell for, 30% chance I passed.
