Taking standardized tests for fun...

MSTP is probably the most difficult program to get into out of any graduate school…more than MBA/JD etc…all the people I know who have gotten in were stars. Those are fantastic programs though.

Doubtful…pretty much any student that cant get into any US med school will go to a Caribbean school. Equivalent would be not getting into Harvard MBA down to Florida State MBA so instead going for that University of Phoenix online MBA.

I wonder what percentage of doctors graduated from a Caribbean school program. The only guy I ever met in my life who did worked in pharm sales. I had a fair number of mailers come from them but brushed them off and wanted to get a job right away. I know some go into podiatry (much lower mcat/gpa standards than med school).

I thought about taking MCAT/LSAT test, but again, as with any competition you have to prep and reach peak at certain time to ace it… Felt like i would be wasting my time

I considered taking the SAT for other people (for pay of course) when I was in HS, but figured I would get caught and decided against it.

i have studied for the LSAT - it’s pretty standard reasoning

however, the mcat does tend to favor pre-med students peaking senior year as the test asks core science questions that must be re-learned for older applicants out of the field

what. a. pain.

luckily I found this 24/7 chat share study Skype group that is way intense. Hopefully between that and Kaplan MCAT classes I should be ok

You certainly don’t have to approach 40 on the MCAT to be competitive. Can’t take too much to break 30 considering the people I’ve know that have. And remember, if you’re not Asian or white you really don’t have to do very well.

medschool

Haha finally something on this forum I know more about than the average poster! Mostly I learn from others here. Yes I am a physician and

took the MCAT, although it was awhile ago. The exam is of course hard, but in my opinion you don’t need anything more than the core curriculum

to pass. In other words, you don’t need four years of undergrad chemistry to do well on the chemistry questions. You just have to know general

chemistry and organic extremely well.

Like with CFA, Kaplan is a big player in 3rd party although when I was a student it was too expensive for me. Also like CFA, a template for the

exam is published that is accurate and reliable.

I had a few friends in undergrad who were like the OP–possessed some intuitive ability to “see” the correct answer on standardized exams–

and a few of them took the MCAT for sport. None of them smoked it but one guy (a language major!!) got very close to the 90th percentile.
