THE CQF IS GETTING MORE PRESTIGE

Paul, i also think that instructor-led discussions can be more beneficial than self-study, especially if the material is deep enough to provoke questions from the student which no textbook can answer, plus if the instructors give real-life practical examples that would certainly be a great add-on. it’s just that $20K is still not justified despite all the positives. consider repricing it and i’ll be sure to take the course, i think it’s worth it overall. thanks

Seriously thinking about going for CQF. Would you hire this guy: Had a pretty good job but didnt feel challenged, quit his job and traveled for 6 -8 months while doing CQF. Has CFA as well. Now wants you to hire him and pay him well. Will you? Will you homes?

whats a cqf?

Keys dropped 20k and is just trying to justify wasting so much money.

You have the CFA and you are also an Actuary by profession then why do you need to collect certificates/degrees like CQF for getting better job. If you are interested in quant, go for MSF or something like that.

I’ve been doing what I’m doing for years and I can now do it while asleep. Result is I am bored out of my mind and have no challenge at work. I was to do CQF so I can break into something different like being an analyst at a hedge fund. Pay doesnt matter.

Does anyone know if the CQF need work experience before you can get the “designation” after your name?

I know someone who can help answer that question.

I don’t know about CQF. To me, it could be a negative signal - like you couldn’t just read that stuff yourself and had to spend $20k. As mentioned above, if it has a more friendly cost, like $1500 similar to CFA, many more people would consider it. Not a single quant I know has CQF - either that, or they don’t advertise it.

Better go for SOA instead of CQF.
