The Soccer Thread

Is this thread about sports? :-1:

what you crying about now?

Yeah I stand corrected. Apparently not all tournaments use the same away-goals rule - some away goals count in ET, a few do not (EFL). Must have remembered it from an EFL match earlier this season.

I read that today in the financial press. Bit of a strange one. It said that he hired a top floor suite in the same hotel that the team were in so he could watch it unfold.

Interesting draw for the semis, I think Atletico will have them over 2 legs. Barring November, Atletico have had the better of Real at the Vicente Caldaron and the Bernabeu for a good few years now.

Started a thread for this but figured id just throw it here:

Pretty clever ruse: short company, blow up their stuff, blame it on muslims due to outstanding muslim sentiment. Execution was very poor though, cant be using odd options action to do this stuff! Authorities always look into options trading whe stuff like this happens, only a rookie would be that dumb!

Great, at least we won’t have a boring AF final again this year.

I wouldn’t bank on it, if Juve and Atletico get through it’s unlikely to be an exciting game.

I want to see Juve v. Real.

Winners I would prefer: Monaco>Atletico>Real>Juve

Won’t happen but I dislike Juve and Ronaldo that much.

Why? What have they done to you personally?

Anyone who did not see El Classico this weekend should watch the highlights immediately.

What a game. One of my mates was there as well, lucky b@stard

So the chinese now own both milans eh? Just a matter of time before they flood the premiership i feel

Pretty plain sailing yesterday, with Real´s 3 goals. Today, I expect Juve to make the first step towards the final.

Real were great last night but Atletico were dire and Simeone’s tactics really backfired. played 2 up top and they floated about aimlessly for most of the match while the midfield tried repeatedly to play through the middle and were totally overran by Modric and Kroos who were amazing.

Griezmann is really doing well to confirm his reputation as a big game bottler.

Probably won’t be a popular opinion but I dont’ see anything special with this Atletico team and never have. They play a physical game, they have one or two guys who can score, and they defend/disrupt the game. Theres too much pressure on Greizmann to score with little to no service. I don’t watch them often so Luffy can jump in here but their game plan isn’t terribly sophisticated so it’s not hard to defend against for top tier teams. It’s good they’re the little guy sticking it to the man but that’s all they’ll be under this current structure.

Anyways it looks like I won’t get my wish… it will likely be a Real-Juve final.

Watched the USMNT humiliate Honduras a few weeks ago and the announcers were drooling all over Christian Pulisic. Any of you international football experts believe the hype?

^ He’s a quality player. I had no idea he was American until now, I assumed he was eastern european

I agree with you although they usually do the physical, defensive game plan well but on Tuesday they were dreadful.

as much as I’ve never taken to them as neutral due to all their histrionics I do really feel for them having lost the final twice to their bigger city rivals and now most likely dumped out at the semis the year after. Particularly as they were winning in 2014 right up to injury time and then 2016 was on penalties. that’s got to hurt
