I have a friend who “went to cash” in the summer of 2007 and he told me before he did it so I believe him. Of course he neglected to mention that he left his retirement assets invested in whatever he invested in and is now down 60% peak-to-trough. But hey, he’s in cash in his brokerage account so that cumulative 3% return should offset the pain.
