Thoughts about post-test survey

I received and filled out the survey last night. I noted that they have a question about whether the proctors were courteous in enforcing the testing rules, but did not solicit a response about whether their strangely excessive and draconian testing rules and procedures possibly went… you know… a little too far.

I have taken a lot of standardized tests in my life (inlcuding ones with a lot more consequence than membership in the CFAI) and have never been treated like the CFAI treats their candidates. They maintain this obnoxious presumption that every test-taker is looking to cheat however they can and must be basically physically restrained from doing so. It really communicates to candidates (as well as presumably outsiders) that they do not trust their prospective members and do not believe that they are of sufficient moral caliber to regulate themselves in regard to the simplest matters of professionalism and ethics.

Am I alone on this?

Yes, I appreciate the strictness. Although the cavity search was a liiiiiittle invasive…

Well, i think the rules and restrictions are fine, and i was a little upset on exam day because the proctors were a bit sloppy, they let many candidates come in with bottles of water and suddenly realized its not allowed, water coolers were placed way far away from sections in the middle, the guy collecting the answer sheets from my section was licking his fingers and grabbing the sheets from the answers area which made me paranoid in both sessions. If anything, i want them to add more precautionary measures and allow the proctors to realise how important the exam is, at least to us, candidates.

I’m on board the CFA’s rules and policies should be updated and have said so multiple times. Additionally, the new rule you couldn’t leave was a step in the wrong direction. That said, remember the testing is one day and you will do it only 3-6 times (I doubt many have sat more than six times). Getting the charter is worth the pain of a day or three.

i remember reading a post a few months ago where a candidate said he did LII 7 times already. now that candidate should have some valuable input on testing policies.
