^that’s a different situation. there was no other service rendered for the wine other than being a player. TB12 gets paid market rates for services provided.
But you can also see a much larger potential for abuse as a way of sending millions of dollars to a player with the TB12 system, as opposed to loading millions of dollars worth of wine. Obviously a “gift” system could be abused as well but that is clearly a coach giving his players a gift to be nice. Not that TB12 doesn’t provide a valuable service (it might, who knows) but the league should probably make sure everything is on the up and up.
^Obviously you’re both correct. My point was the NFL takes salary cap issues very seriously. I’m sure they’re looking into this and it’ll come up during the off-season meetings. If they find teams are coming up with creative ways to pay players more money, they’ll put a stop to it immediately.
