What did you study in undergrad and why did you chose the CFA?

Just wondering what everyone studied in their undergrad and their reasons for pursuing the CFA.

Mathematics and Accounting.

PIMCO told me to take the CFA exams.

Finance.

Boredom with my job at the time mostly. Wanted a challenge.

Economics and Mathematics

Wanted to learn all the finance stuff I didnt learn in undergrad and then some.

Economics and some BSD who bought two very expensive cars from me said I should give it a shot.

What species of cars?

rather not post but will give an easy clue: the best or nothing.

I liked finance, and chose the CFA route because I really wanted to learn more. I can’t get enough of reading the material.

Evolutionary Biology and Zoology but have worked in finance my whole career. Decided to finally give it all or nothing in cfa.

I completed my ACCA in Feb 2015,wanted new challenge in my life so opted CFA.

History/Economics for undergrad. Originally thought I wanted to go to law school.

Worked as a financial advisor for a major wirehouse for a few years, but did not find that very interesting. Pursuing the CFA because I like the material and would like to carve out a career in Research/Portfolio Management.

Economics, Microbiology & Psychology for my undergrad.

Decided to pursue the Charter as it is viewed favourably within my firm - it’s one of the qualifications listed within the ‘talent management framework’, yes one of those wordy, BS HR papers. CFA seemed less common and more challenging than the MAppFin.

because anyone can write the exam. No experience required.

Statistics and Political Science Undergrad / JD & MBA since then. Tired of being a lawyer.

Math and Economics becuase I wanted to take a masters or phd in economics.

Decided I wanted to work in banking and was recommended CFA to learn some basics in finance.

Applied Math.

I was interested in and enjoyed the material.

Electric Engineering + Marketing as a postgrad.

I would like to know more about how finance works and possibly switch to investment job.

From my experience you should try to know if it fits you. If it’ll fit me that would be definitely a life changer, if not, I would know for sure that finance isn’t for me.

^where u working?

Studied Instrumentation and control Engineering

Wanted to learn Finance, Google told me it’s the hardest exam on wall street

Electronics Engineering

Inferiority Complex. Everyone knows that finance people are a superior breed, smarter, funnier, and more handsome. So I tried to join.
