Taleb himself doesn’t think much of CFA, and there really isn’t much math in the CFA program, it’s finance not mathematical finance. Compare it to an MFE or the Wilmott CQF

Taleb has made condescension into a hobby. I see it as his way of trying to show how highbrow he is (yes, the guy is an intellectual but seems to have a chip on the shoulder and a huge need to prove himself).
Not offended about his views on the CFA but I find it bizarre how only Spitznagel, the local cab driver and Mandelbrot are worthy of his time. His Mandelbrot fascination borders erotisicm.
I don’t see the link between Taleb’s view on CFA and understanding what Taleb is explaining in this books. I’m quite sure Taleb understands the math explained in the CFA curriculum.
Bet you he can’t pass it
I’d like to know Taleb’s CAGR.
I’m also quite sure Taleb understands the math explained in the CFA curriculum.
But
(Taleb understands the math explained in the CFA curriculum)
\nLeftrightarrow (you wouldn’t understand many arguments made by Taleb if you wouldn’t have studied for CFA)
I haven’t read all of Taleb’s books, but I have read some, and the ones I have read, you needed very little (if any) math to understand. The ones I read were mass market books.
Black swans and fat tails.
Unpredictable highly improbable extreme events can and do happen and happen all the time.
Rumour has it that Taleb failed level 1 and that’s the reason why he has a chip on his shoulder. Wild if true.
