What next after CFA?

I’d advise against prep classes for the GMAT. There is really no body of knowledge that they are going to teach you and the tricks really are just a matter of recognizing which method to use (eg, many of the triangle/polygon area problems can be solved by adding a new point to the diagram). The grammar section comes down fundamentally to 20 - 30 rules that you can learn to recognize through practice tests.

If I were you I’d spend my prep dollars on a set of online practice tests. If after doing half a dozen or do, you feel like there is some areas that you aren’t getting, maybe consider a prep course at that point.

Well GMAT is a very diff exam versus the Cfa.

the score you get is hardly marginally dependent on the time you spent studying, at least for me, compared to cfa . Very intelligent and tricky exam . It’s a test on your Iq and logic I’d say ( I know there are some folks who improved from 600 to 750 by some miraculous classes and hardcore studying but I honestly don’t believ that’s the purpose of the exam )

But like some other folks also say , anyone that can understand cfa should have a very above average intelligence for the math and logical reasoning tested on the GMAT .

700 is drawing from my personal experience and I think I’m just an above average candidate for cfa ( poor gpa , non target school, because frankly we all know the real Ivy League bulge bracket investment bankers aren’t counting on this to make the back office to front office move or make their resume less sulky and have the money and pedigree to do a good mba)

of course some of them still do it but they don’t make the bulk of the candidates

i suspect GMAT has a a way wider audience than cfa ( I’m easily in 90 percentile ) and it’s not something you should study 500 hours for .

So i guess it really comes down to exam day performance for GMAT.

I have a 730 if you wanna know . I believe I can get a 750 and above if j wanna throw a few more hundred bucks at them , not by more studying . It’s a tricky exam like I said

Actuarial?

I’m thinking about a PhD in mathematics.

I will take up FRM and Actuarial(probably)

S2M for Fields Medal.

Okay let’s crush this GMAT!!! Going for 740!!! Who is with me in the journey to slay the GMAT Dragon?

What are your target schools infinitybenzo? I might sign up, will only know for sure after 7 July.

not sure yet. just trying to get through GMAT for now.

Don’t worry about the GMAT, if you know basic algebra and geometry you should get a 48+ on Q, es. since you’ve already gotten to level III. The english is just basic grammar and reading comp, which should be cake unless you’re not from the US. Study 1 month tops, and you should do fine. Full disclosure I got a 730 off two week of study, and just sat for Level III.

Passing all 3 CFA is absurdly more difficult than getting a 700+ imho.

**** maybe GMAT +700 is doable for me. Thanks for the encouragement guys!

MissCleo, you going for 3 for 3 on CFA?

Ha, no way i’ve yet to pass a level on my first try. Another disclosure I got a 1480 on my SAT again with minimal study. SAT and GMAT are very highly correlated, since they’re very similar tests.

I’ll tell you what I’m going to do upon getting the results – send unsubscribe notices to all CFA materials providers. FinQuiz has sent me emails nearly every day since the exam ended.

And how does your ultimate question relate to how old you are?

Lol, the misery of getting mails related to CFA even when the exam is over :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m thinking about a career of an EU parliamentarian in Brussels, no lot of work - great salary…an ideal of each south-eastern European, make a career in public birocracy.

I didn’t read the whole thread, so this is just in response to the OP’s post.

I think the best thing for you after the CFA is to try to get your WE. (That’s Work Experience.)

You can always count on Greenie to spoil the mood with misplaced pragmatism.

Not sure if you are serious or joking.

If u are serious, I am a bit curiuos of how the experience helps with CFA.

I never thought of it from the political aspect of things.

Not serious. winkAmong the most irritating thing for me is a public birocracy. No matter EU or local birocracy. EU is even worse because is well paid for inefficiency. angry
