Why are people going for CAIA after passing CFA+FRM??

Hmmm…nothing wrong with getting expert opinion. You’re mistake was not differentiating between fact and opinion, and if you have been studying CFA as you claim then you would know that that is an ethics violation.

This! And there is nothing wrong with alphabet soup. And I suggest you should go for CQF and PhD, after you are done with your CFA/FRM/ACCA/MBA. You can do it bro (Y)

I’ve seen this alphabet soup argument played out a lot recently and it’s probably true that CAIA will not add much to the CV of a CFA charterholder, but I honestly hope that this is not, and despair that it is, the reason why people are studying these qualifications.

The OP bashed CAIA because he does not believe it adds value, as an FRM holder and a L2 CAIA candidate, i can honestly say I think there’s a greater correlation between FRM and CFA than CAIA. But at the end of the day that’s not the point.

Why do I keep punishing myself by pursuing more qualifications? Because I don’t believe that passing CFA or any other means you know everything about finance, looking at the matrices people havepassed as passing scores in the past I think it would be fair to say that passing an exam does not really guarantee you know the subject materila for that exam.

So I study to improve the knowledge I have and to expand on it and there might be a streak of masochisim in there too.

And to those who say that the alphaet soup chasers are insecure or unsuccessful, that may be true, but I think it’s the act of a troll to call them losers, as these are the guys putting in the effort they need to win.

Thank god finally i got a decent unbiased opinion on this thread.I completely agree with @Monito"it’s the act of a troll to call them(alphabet chasers) losers".Every one has got different aims in life, some may value money while others may value education in their life.

This thread was originally posted to understand the value addition of CAIA(if any) to a CFA/FRM holder.I did not know what "crime " i did that people even went as far as to insult my nationality.Agreed my “english” may not be as good as some “articulates” on this forum since it is my secondary language but this doesnot give any one the right to insult me.Someone even wrote “hell would freeze over before they get jealous of an indian dude”,i mean it can be acceptable to insult some one personally in a heated argument but insulting some one’s “nationality”??I donot know but if you have such mentality then you are still a “ape” although you may be educated citizen of a developed nation.

I believe all human beings are equal. What we become or how successful we become depends on our hard work not our nationality.Columbus founded USA and neighbourhood in 1492 by accident, while he was looking for some southasian country which was the richest country at that time and is expected to be a super power again by 2030.Now please i donot want to be labelled as a “racist” for stating this fact,i just want to convey the message that a country/a nation develops when the citizen of that country become responsible for the growth of that nation. No country can be “deemed” to be a developed country for infinite life,as a point in case the “south asian country” that i am talking about which failed to sustain itself and due to lack of effective leadership/corruption/over population is now reduced to a “developing country”.

Now some may argue that why people from developing countries migrate to developed nations??

It is common human instinct to look for better opportunities.Legal Immigrants not only work hard to earn money for them selves but they also contribute in the economy of the developed country.Yes immigration do create competition for the domestic workers but it in a way also motivates the domestic workers to work harder to beat the competition.

Sorry for getting off track, but after the insult that i went through on this thread i had to open up my mind and put forward my point of view.

really? I do see certificate matters but to the extent you cannot live without it.

You’re questioning why someone would do both the caia and cfa, yet you intend on doing 2 mba’s?? LOL

For what it’s worth I worked part time in a top tier MBA admissions office (work study while I was an undergrad) and I know at the time we wouldn’t even consider your application.

Lets see.If your facts are correct, then perhaps i may not get chance to do MBA from IVY league. As my current MBA is mainly concentrated towards marketing & entrepreneurship with Finance as a minor, perhaps MS in finance is a better option for me(who loves finance) and thank fully HEC Paris (Ranked 1 globallyhttp://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-finance-pre-experience-2012)will not stop me from doing 2nd masters. How i know it???One of my relative who already had a MBA did MS from HEC without any problem. If there is will there will always be a way.

I’d rather do an MS( Finance) in

Kozminski University Poland Master in Finance 52,654 11

Clearly it is superior since the last number is larger(11) than HEC Paris

HEC Paris France Masters in International Finance 93,680 2

Kozminski>HEC Paris, didn’t even need to use any H-tests, just that simple inequality was enough.

You don’t consider doing CAIA because it has too much overlap with CFA, but you do consider a 2nd masters in finance after doing CFA and already having a masters with a finance minor? The further we go with this thread the more you seem to lose it.

Maybe a nice plan for you for coming period: 1. Stop posting about things you plan or hope to do in the far future (it might be the most interesting subject for you, we just get tired of hearing how you will enroll for Harvard in 2020 and pass as top of your class because your tutor told you that you seem to study well in his special CFA prep class) 2. Finish your MBA (and see how far you can come with your ACCA and CFA during that time) 3. Get a job and get some work experience 4. THEN go find out if you need more of an education, if you want to do a second MBA or masters, or whatever. Trying to find it out now is useless because you have no idea what you want, need, or like.

Some general pointers: - try not to come off like a giant cunt in your posts (bragging, asking for advice but not taking it, irritating choice of words like “bro”, asking yourself questions followed by 5 question marks in your posts just because you seem to have an answer to your own question, etc). - try to find a life outside of studying (being an interesting person and being good with people will mean more for your career than having a pile of papers)

There are many people who are going for 1 yr Ms finance from IVY league college even though they have CFA/Masters.People want to study in IVY league (post experience) to develop contacts & benefit from on campus placements.

Go on the websites of companies you want to work at and look at how many people have the alphabet soup in their bios. I bet you can count them on one hand.

First of all i am not going to argue with you at all!!! In your words "

“Don’t argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

Greg King

I am not going to be the one wasting my valuable time on you!!!

Regarding this post ,it was written months ago and a lot of things in my life has changed since then,in a way this post suffers from time period bias!!!

Being a CFA level 1 candidate please donot take out your frustration here!!!Study for your exam and let me do the same!!!

Last but not the least,it is my life and i will do what ever i want, you have no right to comment on me!!!

Now just like you i am going to end my conversation with a quote ““Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” - Eleanor Roosevelt”

You are discussing about “me=people” so i can understand where you belong…

This is an outdated post and it does not reflect my current state of mind!!!

According to you passing an exam is just easy???wow!!!

If passing an exam "were to easy"then any one giving the exams should become CFA/FRM/CPA etc etc…

Be careful with your comments, there are many people who are studying day and night for above mentioned designations!!

I know you are a CFA L3 passed candidate,i request you to please go to “CFAL1 Forum” and advice me on strategies to pass CFA L 1 exam.

I donot want alphabet soup to brag about it!!!(please donot judge me by this post as it was written months ago!!!)

I know work ex>>>>degree/diploma.But my question is "What is a big deal if some one wants to study while working full time???"I think it is a matter of personal choice more than any thing else!!!

Thanks…
