Wilfrid Laurier University--Master of Finance-COOP

hey, sorry, i just noticed this thread’s revival… my understanding is that you can finish the required CA courses in 4.5 years. i have plenty of friends who went that route. if you took 6 courses per year, you could probably squeeze it into 4 years. you’d have to talk to an academic advisor as things may have changed since '07. plus, you can’t take my word b/c i didn’t do it myself so the requirements i’m aware of come from hearsay. why do you ask… are you in highschool?

No not in high school lol I have been interested in learning accountancy and maybe one day try one of the professional designations. I wondered about the wilfred laurier thing because I couldn’t find that info on their website and also in my province, theres no such thing as completing the course requirements in your undergrad, you either need to do the CA graduate diploma or a masters in accounting.

ahh. its likely b/c laurier has a 4-year enrollment in the bba and can provide all the required courses due to its program size, whereas other schools with similar program size, york, western (i’m sure there are others but those are the only two i know for sure) require that you take all non-bba courses in your first two years, then apply for bba-enrollment in your 3rd year and take two years of bba classes. this structure leaves less room for BU classes. this is just my best guess, i didn’t go to these schools.

Laurier: good school, I went there. Only get an MBA from a feeder school (this does not include Laurier); otherwise, not much point…
