^^ not much exaggeration… The fundemental question is: whether you believe YOU or SOMEONE ELSE can better spend your money in wisely and effeciently…

^^ And yet you got my point judging by what you wrote above… Thanks man (or woman as you might be)!
I’m not sure I understand your point, as I could answer your question either way and still believe we should extend unemployment benefits and allow the bush cuts to expire.
I respect your point of view… and it’s why we have the left and right of a political spectrum so poeple like you and me can belong to respectively…

^^ That’s where elections came into the equation. In the most recent one, voters largely rejected the Left.

^ wait what? the people punished the democrats NOT because of the economy??? then what?
Marcus, Ha! Ha! That’s funny. You are either kidding or in denial… Dems lost because they put the wrong item on the top of their priority list, which should have been the economy… There are times in history that dems deserve to win, but his time, they deserve to lose.
^ yea that’s what I thought. Healthcare bill = job killer That’s why the white house has been silently giving so many corporations “exemptions”.
iteracom Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ^ wait what? > > the people punished the democrats NOT because of > the economy??? then what? Well yes, but whose fault was it? Don’t you think that the electorate was being extremely impatient to expect Obama to turn around the economy in a matter of two years? Don’t you think with the extreme antics of the tea party and the amount of misinformation, name calling (Kenyan, Marxist, Communist) that went on did not have anything to do with the democrats losing? Did Obama plunge the US into two wars? Was he responsible for the financial crisis that is STILL ongoing across the world? Yes they were punished but they deserve to be? I think not.

Most of the provisions have not even gone into effect. How can it something kill jobs when its not even been implemented? Anyways I think that Obama caved way too much for this watered down version that was passed.
^ that’s not true. Months ago, it was all over the news, large corporations already started taking huge expenditures for healthcare. And 2 months ago, ALL the insurance companies begun raising premiums solely because of the healthcare bill. I researched this personally, and people were taking 30%+ increases. Obama spent a whole bunch of time dealing with many issues of much lesser importance, when people would rather him focused on 1 issue: economy. He had 1 year full control of the house and senate, and accomplished squat. Then he started to lose ground and was forced to take a watered healthcare bill, which killed the public option. yay.
I think the main problem is that the people who benefit most directly from better health care don’t vote and are easily swayed by scare tactics that say that the reason that they don’t have a job is because lots of money was spent to make sure that wall street still gets good bonuses in a down year. Outrage over bailouts, many of which were actually done in the Bush years sapped democratic support. It was also easier to peg bailouts on the Dems (which is defensible) and use that to reduce democratic support while encouraging the right to mobilize better. So insurance companies are raising rates 30% today, in order to offset expenses that start to hit in 2012 and beyond? Sounds more like “here’s an excuse to raise rates and blame it on someone else.” Health care did get messed up. I think the idea was that it would be more likely to have a lasting effect if there is to a proposal passed and then later modified, rather than having nothing at all. I don’t have proof of that, but it’s my interpretation of events.
I freely admit that I thought the final healthcare bill was a debacle, although it’s not even close to as bad as people are trying to make it out to be. I also agree 100% with: “He had 1 year full control of the house and senate, and accomplished squat” Which is why it’s odd that voters choose to reward Republicans for filibustering at 3 times the historic rate for the minority party.

According to babynames.com, the most popular girls name in the US in 2010 is “Emma”, the least popular? “Pelosi”…
