That takes money away from hiring or consumption. plain and simple. it’s a job killer. thanks obama. Oil companies do the same thing. As soon as oil shoots up, they raise gas prices. But wait, the gas selling now was bought and refined with oil was cheap. oh well too bad. take it. greed is very much alive.

We are letting an oligopoly get away with price gouging.

By all means, feel free to form a committee. If regulation has taught us anything it’s that it drives cost down.

Price control has its good intention, but the market force will bring many unintented consequences. You control the rate insurance companies charges the insured, the availability of policies could and would shirnk… See this excerpt from Wikipedia on Jimmy Carter and the Oil Crisis… “…This sparked the 1973 Oil Crisis and forced oil prices to rise sharply, spurring price inflation throughout the economy and slowing growth. The US government imposed price controls on gasoline and oil following the announcement, which had the effect of causing shortages and long lines for gasoline.[16][17] The lines were quelled through the lifting of price controls on gasoline, although oil controls remained until Reagan’s presidency…”

Rates increased in California, but that was completely unrelated to HCR. That the companies timed it with the passing of HCR was quite convenient for them. I’ve heard quite a bit about rates “skyrocketing” from people on the internet, but nary a whisper outside of that. My company’s rates certainly haven’t changed. Lesson: Spend less time arguing politics on the internet.

^ My cousin self employed got a call from Blue Cross. they said “due to the healthcare bill, and no other reason, your premiums are going up 38%. sorry.” And now he can’t hire more workers because costs are too high. it doesn’t get more clear than that.

You buy that BS from blue cross?

Well my cousin got a call from BS saying his rates are going down 38% because of the health care bill. Aren’t false anecdotes fun? Seriously though, my cousin, who has had a bad allergy since childhood, can now get health care coverage. Previously this allergy qualified as a pre-existing condition under which everyone would deny him.

I raised my rates because of the health care bill too!

Yeah, I drove through Mickey Dees yesterday and they told me that they had to raise the price of the the Fish Fillet Sandwich because of the healthcare bill.

B.O. is going to extend 13 months of umployment benefit for those people, some of whom (not all of them) are: - too lazy to look for jobs, - don’t have the skills for a job they desire, - are too proud of themselves to take a “over qualified” jobs, or - last of all, are too busy making 5 or even more babies to seriously look for a job. Isn’t B.O. just kicking the can down the street?

I doubt it will pass through the house and senate. 99 weeks is a really long time collecting free govt money.

Better than kicking 2 million people on the streets. Its a very cold winter out there and the homeless shelters are full.

Do you realize that not all the people whose benefits are being extended have been unemployed for 99 weeks?

To a large degree, nobody but those people themselves put them into such a situation. When you are only 30 years old and have 5 kids already, what’s the likelihood of you having acquired some advanced or mission critical skills to make yourself layoff proof. How likely can you devote a good amount of time and effort to your job to make your employer value your effort and contribution? How much financial cushion have you accumulated for, if noboby else, your kids?

Thanks for that info, makes perfect sense now.

^^ Ha! your arguements are sneaky, but tough to be fair. So Marcus, you genuinely think it’s ok to give that 30 yr old mother of 5 13 more months of your tax money?

I don’t care much for the mother, but what do you propose we do with those 5 kids which will not end up costing the taxpayers same if not more?

marcus phoenix Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > AlphaSeeker Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > I don’t care much for the mother, but what do you > propose we do with those 5 kids which will not end > up costing the taxpayers same if not more? they can live with their neighbor’s 5 kids. or they can live with a relative or just live out on the streets, which is probably where they were even when their mom had a home. people can be amazingly resilient when given the chance.
