What are your current investment philosophies? I’m short treasuries, short financials, long gold,… anyone offer some clear insight if i were to be asked this on an interview… what types of asset classes i should be invested in and y? thank you experts.
I actually keep a spreadsheet of about 25 different sectors and asset classes with bullet points and links to reference readings for each in case I need to review for interviews or client meetings. Helpful to keep all your ideas in one place so you can refer to them quickly.
That’s a good idea JTLD.
wow, i think he was being facetious/sarcastic hellomello: look into convertibles; with credit spread so wide, you’re essentially getting a free (or at least, very cheap) option to participate in the upside once equity maintain a sustainable rally. Also look into specialized ABS deals (particular those that can participate in the TALF program): you can get up to, i believe, a 7:1 leverage, only putting up a small portion of the equity while the treasury and FDIC loans the rest. In particular, new vintage years AAA rated ABS deals. Some of my clients seeing more interest in TIPS. Definitely still a good position to have for the middle-term outlook as inflation is expected to edge higher by late 2010.
nevermind, maybe JTLD was being serious; i can never tell.
I was being serious but the spreadsheet is too personalized with my own notes and links to documents that reside on my desktop to be of any real use to anyone but me. But the general idea is that anyone can/should create the same template. Whenever you come across a good article or if someone on the sell-side forwards you a good primer on something etc., read it, jot down some important points, and make a note of where you archive the document.
