I graduated and made the mistake of spending the next 4 years in the back office as a fund accountant. I realize that was a big career mistake. In most recruiters eyes, I am pigeonholed as a back office technician.
What can I do to get out? I realize that anything FO is going to be a long shot. But I’m not 30 yet soI won’t give up on that dream for another 10 years.
I was thinking about taking 1 or 2 levels of CFA just to show that I’m not an idiot. Maybe start writing for seekingalpha to show my creative side.
BO is a big obstacle. Try moving internally first, even if it’s just to ‘MO’. Even though most MO isn’t really MO. They just tell you that b.c aspiring BO people want it.
