Is anyone attending this seminar? And more importantly, has anyone attended a Schweser seminar in Houston or any other city, if so, what was your experience? Spending 1k for a seminar reallys begs the question, “what’s in it for me?” Thanks to all in advance who reply and share! -EAV
Prior to writing level II, I attended the 5-day seminar in D-FW. It really depends on what you’re expecting to get out of the program, in addition to how you learn. You basically go through all the LOS from start to finish. Personally, I found being immersed in the material and away from work to be somewhat helpful. Also, being able to get your questions answered whenever you want by a professional who teaches these exams every year was beneficial. You also get some decent handouts and some “tips & tricks” which were good, too. That said, it didn’t really do that much for me but I am the type of person who studies best independently. A contributing factor for me attending was also that my employer reimbursed 75% of the costs if I were to pass. The most helpful part was an instructor named John Harris who taught accounting. He alone was worth it, and in fact you can visit his website (http://www.accountingworkshops.com/) as he does his own workshops. I guess if I were to give it a “grade” it would be a B-/C+.
