We cannot 100% prevent criminals from getting their hands on illegal products. But it lessens the chance of accidental shootings and rampages if civilians get access. STL, that is exactly the point I was trying to make. If guns are so fun, have assault rifles in controlled environments like a shooting range. If comparing guns to alcohol, then pubs would be shooting ranges. I think most states have an open bottle law that says it’s illegal to have open bottles out on the street.
medical marijuana about to get legalized. ITS LIT. also back to the topic at hand. the guy still has no motive. he was apparently a baller, and sent 100k to his filipina gf before he did the shooting. my co worker listened to an interview of the brother. apparently he wasnt a weirdo. so any guesses?
Not to turn this into a geopolitical lecture, but this is San Antonio, which is Democrat territory. Gun ownership rates are extemely low relative to West Texas.
OOC - if you live in a state with strict anti-gun laws (like New York), could you not just run everybody over with your car (a la NYC)? Or create an IED, like a pipe bomb or pressure cooker bomb (a la the Boston Marathon)? Or car bomb (a la Oklahoma City)?
So no, I still haven’t changed my mind about gun control laws. In fact, I’m starting to think that maybe having states enact mandatory gun training and open carry is a better idea.
Great plan Greenie. I suppose at least we’d be moving back to the militia conversation that Antonin Scalia, the NRA, et al. seem to conveniently leave out regarding the Second Amendment.
With as common as guns are in the USA, you’d think there’d be a class in high schools that teaches students about guns and gun safety. We have them for sex, drugs, alcohol, and cars, so why not guns?
I had a hunters safety course in middle school, culminated with a hunting license if you so chose. Teaching safety doesn’t really help when a homocidal maniac walks into a public place with an assault rifle.
