I’m working in NYC and plan on taking a review course for L3, as I did for L2. Last go round (2 years ago), I took the review course w/ Nathan Ronin at NYSSA, which I suppose worked b/c I passed by a healthy margin. After a 1.5 year hiatus from CFA world, I’m ready to get this test behind me and earn the letters. Does anyone have any experience w/ either for L3? I know I’ll have to join a local CFA society to gain my charter, which makes the course at NYSSA enticing. When you enroll in the class you get a discount to Schweser study materials and a free membership to NYSSA. On the other hand, some colleagues at work swear by Dr. Franklin Sharp, who they credit with helping them get over the L2 hump (which seemed to be the 2-3X insurmountable hurdle for them). Any advise?
I was debating this same issue!!!. I did take Ronan’s class for level 3 but it did not help me much ( I’m still here)…I am thinking of trying Sharp’s workshop which is offered in April and May. The reason being that I already know the material but need the practice. Hope this helps
I’m a huge fan of Nathan’s and I’ve always recommended his courses…he got me over the hump at L2, but I failed - 9th band - this past June in L3 after taking his class. full disclosure…I’m not taking the class this year. I’m feeling confident that with an earlier start than usual (about a week ago) and more of a focus on CFAI texts as opposed to just Schweser, I’ll get it done this year.
I took Nathan for Level II and thought it helped reinforce some topics. However I bought the three day review session last year as part of one of the Schweser packages (not the most expensive one), but this year they removed the three day review and now make you buy the whole final review pack. So I am leaning towards not going this year and just buying the Schweser books and Secret Sauce.
I agree on O. Nathan - the guy is a pimp, but he really dropped the ball last year in the level 3 class. All he does is tell you what to highlight in the schweser text - useless. I took him for a 3-day level 2 class and was impressed, but again, I think he coasted the level 3 last year.
Does anybody have any experience of 7City materials/classes?
