Ahh the office christmas party

Ebola

Just say you don’t want to hang out with losers and all the chicks are ugly.

So a bit of an update on this. I got back from vacation last night and was swiping left more than right on Tinder when I spotted consultant girl, so I obviously swiped right. So about that “taken” relationship status…

Glad to see this thread sparked so much good discussion.

^youre going to have to explain the “swipe left, swipe right” for those of us who are uninitiated.

Leave it to the married guy…

On tinder you swipe in each direction to select “Yes, would bang” or “Not with a borrowed”. If you and the woman are both in the bang category you get connected so that you can meetup and bang.

^ “Where did you guys meet?” “We both swiped right.” WTF. Is this what we’ve come to as a society?

^ Some women put in their little profile box “We’ll tell our parents we met at Whole Foods.” or something equally annoying. I kind of hope they’re joking. One of my buddies at work brought his new girl to the office christmas party this year. They met on Tinder. haha

90% of Tinder users used to be between 18 and 24 years old. It is now closer to 50%.

It went from purely a hookup app to more of a dating app, taking a lot of market share from online dating sites.

Who owns this Tinder thing? Some private equity incubator?

You need a Facebook account in order to use Tinder so there must be some kind of partnership between the 2. Any pics you upload on the Tinder app must come from your Facebook album (does not have to be pics that are public though).

It’s owned by IAC, ticker IACI. That’s a huge public company though, not exactly a pure play on swipe to bang. On a stand alone basis swipe to bang would be worth at least 100x sales as it grows to dominate all markets globally. At least 100x. Maybe 1,000x.

The appeal of Tinder is that it uses GPS technology. It allows you to know exactly how many miles your matches are from you. Ex: You are at a coffee shop, you filter your radius to 3 miles, you match up with someone that is shopping 2 blocks away, you invite them right there and then to join you.

It’s also the favorite online tool for HCBs because only men that they swiped right with can contact them. The biggest complaint of HCBs on dating sites or even in the real world is being flooded with messages or approached by guys they have no interest in.

I have used Tinder. It is great. Makes hooking up with hot chicks pretty easy now. More and more relationships will come of it as a result of sheer numbers. The great thing about it is you can meet at a bar in a few minutes and be in bed a few drinks later. Greatest dating app I have seen.

Just heard of a great new app called Cuddlr.

what is the % that the girls in real life actually look like themselves in the pics? i know on dating sites the % is like 50% maybe even lower

How do they monetize it? Do you pay an annual subscription or does it have adverts? Can definitely see that the upside for women is that you can only be contacted by pre approved guys.

On a sidenote, I’ve been pretty impressed with facebooks ability to integrate ads on their mobile version.

On main topic, I had 4 Work Christmas nights out, 1 with clients, a department one, a team one and then the company one, all the space of 2 weeks and all of them on weekday nights and starting early. Then I had a non work xmas night out on Saturday so I’m completely broken, my liver and kidneys have pretty much stopped functioning.

Thankfully this year I wasn’t the drunken twat offending everyone at any of the parties, although there is around a 4 hour blackout period at the depatment one so it is still possible.

You guys really know how to do holiday parties in the UK!

My experience on Tinder has been that people are pretty close to their profile pics. If you misrepresent you are just hurting yourself. If a girl is not close to what I see in her profile pic I will not sit down with her and vice versa. Unlike traditional online dating sites you are not as locked in on Tinder because you can swipe right and easily meet somebody else quickly if the girl is a fraud with her pic. Best to be real has been my experience (and you get on Tinder through FB).

It’s free and there are no ads.
