Hi guys, I haven’t seen a lot of discussion about Allen Resources. Are they any good? Should I consider them? Please comment back if you have heard anything good/bad about them!
I used their test bank app and it was terrible. Something like 40% of the questions were econ questions, there were five potential answers instead of three, a bunch of questions were old or irrelevant… Avoid.
What about the video lectures they have? Thanks for your response.
I only did the FRA videos. The instructors were very good. However, the courses were more focused on understanding and much less on passing the test than the other providers. For example, they dont tie the lessons to specific LOS. Another example is one professor went on a long tangent that he prefers the indirect method to the direct method (or the other way around, dont remember), and I was like, ok, interesting, but how does this help me…
Exactly my feeling when I saw a sample video on youtube! Did you use any other video lectures? Were any others better than Allen?
No, I didnt use other videos for L1. I am using Schweser for the free preview for L2 now and they are good. Schweser video was good for the CAIA too. Elan has good reviews on their video but I never used it. The Elan 11th hour book was the most valuable tool I used. 7 City is also excellent and had the best mock exams I saw.
Allen is worse than Schweser/Stalla/Elan IMO.
I returned Allen after spending 1 week on their material. absolutely terrible
I’d stick to those on the CFA Prep Provider list. Allen is not on there.
