Is it hard? Cakewalk? How long do I need to study?
Easy. 2 days.

Bunch of laws. Boring exam.
Its been a long time but I remember it being compliance related.
I studied for an aggregate 5 days. Took it, got a 74. Thought I passed it until the sheet read ‘fail’ they raised the passing score the 75. On the flip side I studied for 3 weeks for the 7 (because of the sheer amount of material) and busted out an 82. Most people at my firm (not in my role) take 8-9 weeks for the 7 which I think is way too long, if you can’t grasp options and bonds in a week, two at most, you really don’t have any business working in financial services. In my opinion a 100 question test that is designed to trick you with a passing score of 75 is a bit flawed. I am just going to take the 63 and 65 and not deal with this nonsense. The test is tricky and is related to all the BO crap that you don’t have to deal with (except for maybe 15 questions of the test, I didnt miss any of those BTW). I really feel like if you’re in the FO you shouldn’t have to deal with this crap since most banks have entire departments set up to ensure that you do not cross any of these overly complicated rules. Just my two cents. Also, if you fail, you have to wait 30 days, which is nuts. I would have taken the test again right there if I could have, I have to wait 6 times longer than I studied just to retake the damn thing. Incredible, some of the rules that the series exams have the places are but nuts.
Worst exam I’ve ever taken. A lot of the material relates to the USA (Uniform Securities Act). It’s mostly legal and compliance related. I studied for 2 days using Kaplan’s Qbank. Soooo boring.
PS. I am the village idiot. I make friends by being easy to laugh at.

How long do you have to save account forms, how many clients can be at a presentation before it has to be compliance approved…yada yada yada
It’s a back office dream come true. I walked in and told my boss’s boss that I failed by a point. He called me a “fu*king idiot” and then said he failed it as well, to which I returned his kind words.
I studied for about two weeks immediately following sitting for my Series 7 and passed by a few points. Just call on the regurgitation techniques of your college days and you’ll be fine. If I remember correctly, the STC practice exams were pretty much exactly the same as the test. Good luck!
It’s just the 63 snf 65 mashed together. I thought it was a little harder than the 7 just because of the laws in the 63. I’d much rather deal with options than laws. But, it was still only 10 days of studying to easily pass.
Passed it two weeks ago. Very easy. Opened book on Friday, crammed that weekend, and took it on Monday. Got over 90. Material is very boring. Stay away from STC on this one. Their material sucks hard for the S66.
I took the 63 and 65 back to back in a 3 week period in 2001 and passed no problem. I have heard that the exams are “much harder” now, but that is all realtive. They were cake back then, but after the recession they supposedly got more difficult due to increased regulation. The material is not hard, its just boring. It will feel like a 4th grade multiplication test in comparison to the CFA levels if you study the material for a few days.
Agree with most of the above, although I would say 2 days is a bit extreme for study time, you may want to do more. Mainly know your “blue sky laws” and difference between B/D vs. RIA. Find some good practice questions, don’t worry about any quant questions.
^ +1 The “quant” on the 66 is a joke, this coming from a not-so-quant inclined dude.
Quant material: Not hard at all. In fact, really easy. Legalese: Pretty surprising amount of minutiae. Know your stuff here, especially Uniform Securities act and the like.

And by joke I mean I think I had to use the “rule of 72” once. Who puts out better test prep than STC? I’m gonna ask my manager if we can change our provider.
I thought Kaplan was pretty decent. I used their notes a little bit but mostly stuck with the qbank.
Passed it in early January. I found STC reading to be decent, but tests were a joke. I used a practice test on Investopedia that was pretty decent. Studied for less than a week.
