Hi, anyone of you struggling with Fixed income and derivatives. I have subscribed to Mark Meldrum’s videos but I am finding it very difficult to understand. I think he is going a bit fast in these topics. Any suggestion of how to study these topics?
Practice until collapse. No shortcuts in this session. Make all BB, EOCs (official), portal topic tests and mocks.
I’ve written a bunch of articles on fixed income and derivatives:
- Binomial trees
- Valuing floating-rate bonds
- CPR vs. SMM vs. PSA
- Key Rate Duration
- Par curve, spot curve, & forward curve
- Equivalence of derivatives
- Interest rate caps and floors
- Pricing derivatives
- Currency forwards
- Currency swaps
- Equity swaps
- Forwards & futures
- FRAs
- Plain vanilla interest rate swaps
- Valuing derivatives
- Currency forwards
- Currency swaps
- Equity swaps
- Forwards & futures
- FRAs
- Plain vanilla interest rate swaps
You’ll find links to all of them all here: http://financialexamhelp123.com/level-ii-derivatives/.
(Full disclosure: as of 4/25/16 there is a charge to read the articles on my website. You can get an idea of the quality of the articles by looking at the free samples here: http://www.financialexamhelp123.com/sample-articles/.)
Aakansha, I also subscribed to Mark Meldrum’s Videos, I don’t think they are fast. Watch the videos, pause in between to take notes and absorb what he says, and practice some questions. You can also study from WILEY Study Guides.
Mark Meldrum’s videos are great for FI and Derivatives.
Just pause and take notes!
How good are Mark videos compared to IFT or Wiley videos?
Did you try using IFT?
Nope…i think i got to try IFT
Haven’t reached FI and Derivatives yet, but IFT videos have been of great help so far. You definitely should try it.
I was mediocre here. But I think the trick is to practise as much as possible. Dont worry if you make errors, get the into your head. Practise again and again until you are confident. CFA BB n EOCs are great resources to get the concepts
